The pike scene was lame just a bunch of nobody's and a few characters I couldn't wait to see killed off like Tara and Henry

Xfinity cut off the last scene last night, jerks.
Carol is going to war, the Avengers could use her against Thanos.

I thought the king was going to be on there...

Yeah, it was their 'lets kill Abraham instead of Glenn' moment with Lucille.. (though to be fair, they then knocked Glenn off all of a few seconds later)

Will be interesting to see what switcheroos they do next season. Don't think it's a spoiler topic because Daryl doesn't exist in the comics, but it looks like it there will be Daryl vs Beta.. and... comic spoiler ahead -

Unless JDM isn't coming back, the smart money is Negan vs Alpha

Although, it could be Super Saiyan Carol considering we know she doesn't take loss that well..

I think the build up to Enid’s head was the most impactful as the intensity of the music increased and became louder. From a non comic readers POV the few seconds of screen time Daryl telling Carol not to look took the impact away from Henry’s reveal. But for those comic readers it may have worked out well with a big “WTF” moment!!!

They certainly toyed with us comic readers a bit with the Ezekiel moment with Alpha. I thought they’d keep the 2 main character deaths here so I was pleasantly surprised with the switches. Very interested to see what these changes have on the story.

Hilltop is now leaderless with no logical replacement now unless Maggie comes back.

Henry took over Carl’s storyline and now he’s gone too. Lydia is pretty much a loose end now that her relationship with Carl/Henry is no more.

Enid is a real head scratcher, no pun intended. Seems kind of odd to train her to be a doctor this season just to do this. I guess that was a nice red herring to make you think she’d be safe for a while.

Other than the couple of highway men, most of the other 7 heads were at least recognizable background characters. I didn’t remember anyone from the comic’s lineup outside of the 2 main characters so I think the show did a much better job making this a memorable moment.

I’m also surprised this wasn’t the season finale cliffhanger. Very GoT of them. Appropriate since winter is coming:lol

Yup, exactly. Alpha might find out quickly that it's very unwise to piss off Carol.

“I’m going to bake the Whisperers some cookies then I’ll show Alpha my flower garden.”

Yeah, Enid was the only kind of "bummer" one... the rest who cares.

Wow, I'm sensing quite the "good riddance" vibe toward Tara. I think she's had a nice character arc since Glenn saved her back in season 4. Frankly, her death was the most shocking to me, given the Hilltop's revolving (exit) door of leaders: Gregory, Maggie, Jesus and now her. I think Lauren Cohan is pretty set on her new show, so I don't see Maggie returning anytime soon. I suppose Aaron could move over there and fill the void, as the others with leadership qualities (Connie, Yumiko) are still relative newbies. Maybe they're thinking it's time for Daryl to come in from the wild - that could be why they've established his connection with Connie. She'll likely be the one to convince him to step up if that's the plan. Heck, he already acted as the de facto leader when Alpha & The Whisperers came for Lydia.

I know Henry's death was supposed to be the most impactful due to his relationship with Carol & Ezekiel, but it didn't affect me at all. I think the time jump was a negative with respect to his character's development, as they ended up having to shove him down our throats this season in order to support the story they wanted to tell. As a result he came off as irritating and a poor man's Carl. Carl could be annoying too, but they could always shift to other characters & their stories when he became too much. Not so this season with Henry.

For me, it wasn't 'good riddance' for Tara. I didn't dislike her. But, she struck me as a character that survived this long because she was never important enough to kill off. She was mostly comic relief, anyway. When you want to write-in a big death -- to Negan's bat, or the cannibals, or the wolves, or whomever -- she just wouldn't have enough impact. But, she was too big to be a throwaway death (like Olivia or that Dr. chick that caught an arrow through the eye). Even now, they had to pair her up with Enid and Henry to get it to pack a punch.

Oddly, Enid's death that struck me a little harder. Not that she was all that major a character, either. But, she seemed safe ... and, I guess there's just something jarring about seeing a pretty teenaged girl's head on a pike. This episode was not friendly to the teenagers.

One things for certain, it just isn't wise to plan on your retirement post apocalypse. We are down to two from the original Atlanta team (well 3 including Rick out there somewhere), Maggie from Season 2 is still out there, Michonne and Judith from Season 3... Are there any extras left from Season 3/4/5?

I agree with Snake Doc, Tara never really felt like an important character. She was just there. She and Enid were both shocking since I was expecting Rosita and Ezekiel. Henry was also shocking because they set up Ezekiel being on that last pike so well. Once he went with Alpha I thought his fate was sealed. I didn’t even expect Henry, even with him not showing up to the movie. I figured he was the most immune since he just picked up Carl’s role from the comic and was being built up all year. They certainly knew how to take the comic leaders for a ride. Probably as surprising as Carl’s death last year.

Yes, I do believe only Carol and Daryl are left from the original group- if you don’t count Rick. Speaking of, Gimple made it pretty clear we’d see something familiar on Fear and then we’d get an announcement. I took that as the clue when we’d hear about the Rick movie. It sounds like Fear might play a big part in that. I’d actually like that since Morgan and Dwight are over there and Morgan’s story has always been so tied to Rick’s. It would be good to see them back together one last time.

This show is back to it's best, if not better. I wasn't a fan of giving Daryl the lead once Rick left however he's been pretty solid this season.

The Head on a Pike ending was really well done, from the acting to the music etc.

I don't really see Daryl as the lead, feels more like an ensemble cast now.

Wasn't Tara written completely different in the comics? Instead of being in the Governor's group she was a saviour and remained a member of that group after Negan's fall?

I expected Ezekiel to be on that spike, but I'm glad they have deviated from the comics. There's no point in following them exactly because it leaves no surprises for viewers that have read or heard about the comics.

Plus the producers already know Michonne will be written out next season as the actress is leaving the series. Probably not a good idea to kill too many other main characters.

The Alph scene confused me. Was it moments after the "Pike" before the winter or did they go somewhere warm? As much as I liked the winter scene I could not help but to think they have had winters for the past 10 years + surely they are better prepared. Also where were all the background people at Alexandria and Hilltop. The scale of people felt small.

Agree, and why did Beta whip her?

She was inflicting punishment on herself because she'd shown previous weakness over Lydia I believe.
