This was created by a man named Don Levine in 1963. In 2003 the owner of the toy sold it for $200,000 during an auction by Heritage Comics Auctions in Dallas, Texas. The figure is 11.5 inches tall and has 21 moving parts.

Well, considering it's the prototype of the very first GI Joe, the price is understandable. Did you know that for this figure, they used the core of golf balls to make the hips articulation?

If I had money, that figure would be a no brainier. It's a Grail, the grand father of all our modern toys!

He's the basis for ALL 1/6 articulated figures- I understand the price

This reminds me of the commemorative 12 inch GI Joe figure I had when I was younger. It was supposedly a remake or tribute to the original figure.

Sorry, guys, but Barbie is the origin point of all 1:6 articulated figures.

In fact GI Joe was a conscious attempt to recreate that success with boys.

In a couple years Hot Toys and Sideshow will be asking this much for your 1/6 Snydermans and Batflecks.

I pay $13 for fast food so I wouldn't be shocked

the head on this doll/toy is still better than square enix's failed heads or sideshows Nathan Drake.. I think artists should put crappy things infront of them to know to always try to be better

Regardless of its toy-historical importance, not something I'd particularly care to own for any price. Not really what I'm in this hobby for.

So to all of you who asked, there's my answer!

Looks like it'd make a good stand-in for young John Connor though
