Mr. Wrestlemania himself wasn't big, wasn't even tall, had mediocre mic skills and didn't have very good wrestling skills either. What he has was charisma, he did what was asked of him and busted his ***. It paid off in the end and is still paying to this day.

From TMZ:

WWE superstar CM Punk is QUITTING the organization, TMZ Sports has learned ... and sources tell us it's all because he's PISSED over the way the company wants to use him at "WrestleMania."

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ Sports ... Punk was livid when he learned officials scripted Batista to win the Royal Rumble ... because he feels Batista isn't in great wrestling shape and shouldn't be featured in the title match at the upcoming WrestleMania (the biggest event of the year).

We're told Punk feels he earned the right to be in the main event at WrestleMania -- because he's been wrestling tirelessly over the past year from house shows to overseas events. Punk was angry when he found out he'd be wrestling Triple H at WrestleMania instead of squaring off in the title match.

Sources say ... Punk -- whose contract is up in July -- made the decision to leave WWE after "Monday Night Raw" -- and we're told that right now, he's very serious about his decision and has no plans to return.

I loved him as a heel but hate this nice guy stuff. If this story in bold is true then whatever go away. They are going to cave and give it to Daniel Brian anyway. He just wants to be the main event but his time is up for that as it should have happened 2 years ago.

You seriously don't think HBK had good wrestling skills? He was in several of the top matches of the '90s. He arguably had a better understanding of ring psychology than any other wrestler of the time.

Psychology, absolutely. But no, I don't think he was even remotely as talented, wrestling-wise, as Hart, Malenko, Benoit, etc.

He didn't do as many moves as guys like Benoit, but he could have. Though they had different approaches, I think he was very similar to Bret Hart, in that they knew how and when to use moves that were needed to keep the match entertaining to casual and hardcore fans. Frankly, similar to what Bryan is doing now, if you compare a current match to what he did in some of his hour long ROH matches.

We'll agree to disagree on HBK then. While there's no doubt he was a shining star in the WWF universe, I personally think he paled in comparison to Hart as far as technical skills.

I guess you can define "wrestling talent" in different ways, though. Ric Flair has said that Barry Windham was one of the greatest natural wrestlers he ever worked with, and if you're a casual fan you probably wouldn't think much of Windham. His finishing move was a second rope superplex. He never did a dragon suplex or hurricanrana. But if you're a guy who watches a lot of wrestling you can tell that he had really great instincts, and things looked very smooth and natural in the ring, which is usually closely connected to ring psychology IMO.

Just saw this on the Wrestling Observer:

Also, Punk leaving had nothing to do with Batista getting a title shot at WrestleMania. Punk made it clear in the Ariel Helwani interview on MMA Fighting that he had no problem with that. Also, the Punk 'Best in the World' doc being pulled from Netflix was planned beforehand.

I think they are referring to Jigsaw as the ****** there, for, I guess, daring to hit Bryan with elbows :lol

But yeah, like Regal back in the day, I wouldn't **** around with Bryan in the ring if I were his opponent. He's been around long enough to be able to shoot with the best of them if need be.

Anyone of you in the Bay Area going to try and make it to Wrestlemania 31 in Santa Clara? I'll make sure I go since I'm so close by the new stadium.
