In the first couple of non-flash photos, it actually looks pretty good...
...but I still feel that SS screwed up on paint.
I'm still going to wait till I see more pics before I cancel BUT if I'm still on the fence about this when SS starts to charge CCs, I'll cancel it. I'm not going to pay for shipping that "Thing" back to SS just because I don't like it. That'll end up being about $100 wasted in shipping it both ways.

Those last pics weren't as bad as the first set, but I can still see spots of gray. I don't know what I'm going to do now. If I end up by keeping, I'm definately going to attempt to touch up the crevices. Haven't painted in years

Haha the jokes on ALL of you...this is Nightcreeper's THING PF....he's my brother!!! 
The photos are giving you all an intepretation that is depending upon the setting you see it on. I won't deny it looks awesome with the light from the window behind it. But when you get closer the gray between the cracks is very apparant.
Honestly, I am not all that impressed at all with it but to each their own. The sculpt is pretty darn good and is definitely the Thing...but the paint certainly looks duller than the proto and it really looks somewhat cheap because of the obvious missed spots (that are the gray polystone). Compared to the Home-Runs of the Hulk and Captain America (both of which my bro has) this one is a Single hit IMO.
I just recommend you get it IN YOUR HANDS and make your judgment then...your own opinion on what you all see here is giving you the impression whether it's awesome....or crap.

This means that it was just Nightcreeper's poor photos that made it look really bad. No offense Nightcreeper.
I still stand by original assessment that SS still screwed up on the paint. It's nowhere near as nice as the proto pics. If it does look that bad it'll be any easy PASS for me.
I'm just glad that these pics surfaced before the exclusive started to ship. At least someone had some production photos of this piece since Sideshow doesn't have enough guts to post production photos BEFORE an item ships.
His photos were fine, they showcase A LOT of the flaws that unfortunately stand out when you're up close on this piece.
It really is not that great, mostly due to the bad paint. For a PF character that essentially has a VERY LIMITED paint palette compared to other statues they've done, it's a real big shame that it comes out worst than PFs that have more complicated paints!!!!
Seriously, it looks like they just slopped paint over it. The sharpest paint on it are the eyes.

, but...dude trust me, it does not look great in person (at least mine). Once again with or without flash, bad picture or good pictures, this PF does not look good in person for the reasons provided.And yes, it would have been really nice if Sideshow posted images of the production sample before they send em out.
Wookie- I do have a Hulk PF, unfortunately he is placed on a shelf about 5 1/2 feet tall and there is only space for him. I don't think it is worth it to take him down and place him next to the Thing for images. Especially when Sideshow already has images of the Thing PF next to the Hulk PF on their website which I believe shows the two displayed together just fine.

I don't understand why you'd want black paint in the cracks. Thing's skin isn't supposed to be black under or between his rocky plates. There should be some shading in there to simulate shadow but that's it, and it looks like it kinda has that. It would look bad if the cracks were too dark. Also, the shade or orange looks about right. You want a pale orange as opposed to a bright orange.

Its too bad that about 40-50% of the crack space on the my Thing PF are not painted and you can see the gray color of the polystone underneath. So, black painted or a shade of orange in the creases does not really matter when they don't paint the creases at all and leave the exposed material underneath.

I like lots of things, Hellboy 1:1 Prop, Takara Batman, Lightsaber props etc. I think you're just a little sensitive because we are talking poorly about the statue of your favorite character and you feel bad when someone talks negatively about anything. You seem afraid to break a few eggshells. I just say what's on my mind.
