Does Hostess still make the pudding pies?

My mom used to take us to a Dolly Madison bakery outlet when we were little, and we would pick out pudding pies, fruit pies and zingers. Yum-o!!!

Always loved the Peanuts Gang on the packaging, too!

Only the chocolate and lemon ones, at least, I think they still do the lemon. I used to like the vanilla. But now our local grocery store (Stater Brothers') has some vanilla ones that are so good that I stay away from them.

Edit - Mrs. Redd's are the vanilla ones I like. And at 50 cents each...they are really hard to pass up, sometimes.

I forgot about the vanilla ones, it's been so long since I've seen one. Around here, chocolate and lemon are as common as apple and cherry.

Are Mrs. Redd's better than Table Top?

Especially if you warm them up...just a little.

I bet. I've never done it though. Normally, I wouldn't eat any breakfast snack off a gas station shelf without giving it at least 7 seconds in a microwave, but something about these makes me like them straight. Good, strong coffee puts them through the roof.

I have never had Table Top. I would be in heaven if I had one and found it to be better than Mrs. Redd's.

Edit - And the one small drawback to warming up the fruit pies is melting the glazing. Kind of makes for a sticky mess.

LOVED the vanilla ones...I think they had a chocolate cover, too. Never see them anymore. :(

Never had Mrs. Redd's or Table Top. Road trip!!!

That's a long trip for cheap pie. :lol

Twenty-four hour drive from Chicago would only put you at the New Jersey border, but it might get you close enough.

My dad would eat apple pie any chance he got, and always kept a stash of them. $.99 a piece.

Their Boston Cremes are pretty good.

I was thinking of that when I was responding. If I heated it up, the glaze would be history.

LOL...great purpose for a road trip! Too bad Talahassee was after Twinkies...would have been cooler if he were after pudding pies!

Seriously. Twinkies are great and all, but obviously zombies prefer pudding in their pie. :lol

edit - boston creme?!!? YUMMO!!!

I gotta ask, what are twinkies???

I guess it's some sort of snack, I remember a vague reference to them in Die Hard but have no idea what they are :dunno
