I listened to my Fellowship CD the other day for the first time in years.

When it was released, I listened to it almost constantly. In the car, in the house. It would end and I'd start it over. Then I just stopped.

Really weird ending up back in 2001 all of a sudden.

Hard to believe that film is over ten years old and it's better than even most of the better stuff released today, and not just visually.

I was watching The Hunger Games (so great...) Saturday night and I realized how few movies since Fellowship of the Ring had a similar effect on me. Batman Begins is the only one that comes immediately to mind.

I agree. I like subtle acting more than non-stop dialogue. In fact, silence is golden. You can say quite a lot by not saying anything at all.
