Well, next week we're getting the ES for all the C4 exclusives, and the pics ought to follow. Bookmark the C4 homepage!

The slow rollout is half the fun, innit?

Yes, I was being facetious. I didn't want anyone expecting a 1/9th Millenium Falcon and space slug. That would be about the size of a semi I'd think.

Gotta say, I've been totally bewildered by this announcement. Not in a bad way, just literally bewildered. I have no shortage of faith, but I'm having a lot of difficulty envisioning what exactly the product is.

My first imagination when people were talking 1/6 was of a place to stand up action figures, with a little section of Falcon hull, when they are landed inside the slug, and begin to realize something's very wrong. But I couldn't get it to work out at a reasonable size, or figure how to make it attractive or even recognizable. Then Dave said "think small", and I imagined still the landed falcon, with tiny figures around it, viewed "from a distance". It was bringing up thoughts of the Weta Moria Enviro (which is very unorthodox, but successful IMO), but I still couldn't get it to work.

Then Dusty said "Worm and Falcon", which makes me realize it must be a view from the outside, so that there is no mistake what you are looking at, and both objects are in view. That being the case, the Falcon must be in flight and exiting. I'm guessing it's attached to a stiff little wire protruding from the worm itself, which is lunging outward for a bite. Finally, a mental picture is starting to form which might be doable and appealing. There could be some of the crater rim around the wormhole for additional scale and reference. It certainly did come from left field. I'm pretty excited now to see exactly what they've been cooking up.

The little wire for the Falcon is the only thing that might be dodgy. I'm sure they will find a way to handle this gracefully, though.

But the worm and the asteroid environment ought to be amazing. The only thing is -- there will have to be a lot of asteroid for this to work, and it will have to work without a star/asteroid background, which will be tricky to pull off.

On the plus side, I don't foresee too many issues with the paintjob on this one. Thanks to the compositing limitations of 1980 technology, it's all pretty much just dull drab ochre.

Can someone fill me in on where all these annoucnements came from? I can only see the Leia in the newsletter. What about all these others! Im so puzzeled

You mean "handle this gracefully" like they did with the Sith Probe Droids? I love hugely contrasting black wires with a sandy base.

I love SSC, but I hope they don't pull a probe droids again.

The very first item in the newsletter -- "Today is the day to find out about our Celebration IV exclusives!"

Check out the links in that one. :)

Went right past it

I can't wait to see what this looks like and how SS handles suspending the Falcon in air. I mentioned this diorama to my wife last night and got a very positive reaction. She always gives the most excitement for collectibles that the various companies I collect haven't done before, so the Space Slug is a definite standout on that front. When I'm describing the 24th version of a character like Vader or Luke that I want, I get a little less reaction. :lol

Pruette, you nailed the reason why I'm so ecstatic about the diorama line.

I've loved it from the beginning, but now the range of possible subject matter is more apparent -- and I do believe the same will go for the price range, too.

There's just never been anything like this on the high-end collectible market. Even though so many collectors are devoted to the 12" line, and to the lesser extent the PFs and busts, these dioramas are (to me) the best showcases of Sideshow's ability within the SW brand. Really unlike anything out there.

I don't know about anyone else but I am starting to run out of space in my Star Wars room. I hope the Space Slug enviro is pretty small because I cannot resist the dioramas. That GG Rancor took up alot of space as did my Jabba and throne. My husband just remodeled the office for my room, I wonder if he would mind knocking a wall down? :chew

I am guessing Crack-o-rama sized, so about the height of a business card or two.

Dusty has yet to confirm or deny any contribution from Mr. Peterson. :monkey5

Well damn there's a list of credits for you. Ifs funny that I don't recall his name really coming up as a prominent factor of all those movies until now.

I've always known Tippet, Muren, Dykstra, McQuarrie, Johnston, etc. but that's the first I've really heard of Lorne. If he is going to be involved with any of the dios that would be incredible.

While SS is at it they should have Tippet sculpt us a tauntaun and rancor. :D
