You shouldn't have to pay GST on this exclusive version from Threezero direct anyway, as the product was paid for upon pre-order, and that was prior to the new GST rule on imports being implemented. In other words, we actually purchased this over a year ago, it just hasn't been sent until now. If you were to purchase it now via Sideshow or whatever they'd charge you the extra 10%, as you would be paying for the purchase after the new import rules have taken effect, however the import fee is not retrospective and as such only applies to purchases made from the date of implementation forward (or at least as I understand it).

I picked mine up, it was labelled as worth $10 by Threezero. If it was labelled higher how would customs know it was paid for a year ago, they would just look at the total written on the box.

Anyway, happy to report mine arrived with no damage at all. The badge didn't have any curling of the sticker either.

I'm pretty happy with the figure overall. It definitely looks like David Duchovny and the clothing is nicely done. Body is a little loose, but he stands up on his own.

Was nice to receive the figure on the 25th Anniversary of the series. Nicely timed by Threezero there.

Hopefully Scully turns out on par with this figure.

There still seems to be a lot of confusion over this.

Australia Post and local customs don't collect the fee for imports under $1000 (customs do still collect the fee for imports over the $1000 threshold, however), it is supposed to be collected by the overseas business that you purchase from at the time of sale. And every overseas business that does in excess of $75,000 worth of (applicable) retail sales to Australia per year is now legally required to comply and collect the 10% GST charge from all Australian orders according to international trade law, and to forward that collected money to the Australian Taxation deperatment (but just how much of the GST that is now being charged to customers and collected will actually ever come back is a matter of fierce debate). However, even by their own estimates, the Australian government concedes that they only expect roughly 50% of applicable foreign businesses to comply within the initial three years, and that there is little that can be done practically to those businesses that choose not to do so, as most still aren't significant enough in terms of scale to be worth targeting or pursuing for expensive international litigation.

Amazon, most notably, actually publicly refused to comply with collecting the GST from Australian customers, which is why they instead geoblocked Australian customers from using any of their international websites for purchasing from as of July this year. They have been pretty much the only notable international voice of dissent, however, and certainly as far as major and notable businesses go. Personally I suspect they will quietly reverse that decision at some point, particularly as it becomes more and more evident that their attempts to funnel their Australian customer base into using their dedicated Amazon Australia website instead has been a dismal failure, due to both higher pricing and far lower product availability.

Most others, such as Sideshow, already complies with the new rules and collects the 10% for GST on all Australian customers orders, which is charged in addition to the usual shipping and item costs on your invoice. Likewise Ebay will charge you the 10% GST on anything you buy internationally that meets the requirements, which you are expected to pay at time of finalizing payment. Some international businesses have chosen to absorb the fee for Australian customers, others simply don't seem to be bothering, either because they don't do enough business per year where they have to comply, or else figuring that they can slide under the radar as they aren't a major market player and are unlikely to draw notice. And as this GST charge was primarily about targeting the major online juggernauts like Amazon, Etsy, Alibaba, and Ebay, they're probably right.

Anyway, long story short, it is all about who and where you purchase from. If the item (plus shipping) is less than $1000 Australian, and the place that you purchased from didn't charge you GST at time of purchase/payment, you won't be paying it. If they do, you will see the GST charge as part of your invoice. And if you paid for something before July 1st, you won't, or shouldn't have been charged GST regardless. Of course that is just where things stand now, and the government could still seek to implement further changes , including local collection methods, at some point down the line.

Right, now I understand. I assumed they had just changed the threshold from $1000 down to $0 to gather the GST that way. I haven't purchased anything overseas since this change came in, so I never realised how it was going to work.

That's not surprising, most people have no idea of how it is supposed to work exactly because the government has done an absolutely atrocious job of getting accurate information about the changes out into the public sphere. Mainly, one suspects, because they don't want to be too linked to it in the public mindset, and aren't all that keen to 'own' the policy. Hence why they are instead trying to make offshore vendors carry the burden and do the dirty work for them, rather than having it happen domestically, on collection, where voters would more likely view it as an extra charge and a domestic/government issue.

Aaanyway, as for my thoughts on Mulder, he's not a 'wow' figure, at least on his own, but I'm quite pleased overall with how he turned out. The tailoring is very nicely done, and I quite like the trenchcoat, which is scaled nicely and made of an appropriately thin material, so it isn't bulky and fits well. Shaping a good drape on it takes some work and futzing, but I'm satisfied by the results.

As for the accessories, I don't really have a problem with the badge or id tag, I can't overly tell that they are just stickers, they are clean and even on mine, and the badge itself is adequately shaped, and to me is passable considering the scale, even if it does lack any finer detailing. The guns are about average quality and sculpt wise for the scale, and again the only real complaint is a lack of any finer detailing as far as paint apps go. The weathering is almost non existent to the point where I wonder why they bothered, but the guns are solid looking as is anyway, though I do slightly wonder about the scale of each, as one looks a tiny bit too big, the other just a smidge too small, but that's just to my eye and memory from the show, and I may well be wrong. The phone is quite nice, and is well detailed and painted, and there is a solid selection of hands, even if the paint is a smidge dark for my taste. The torch seems a bit underwhelming, and I know they used long torches on the show, but this one still seems at least a quarter too long. The holster is nicely done, but undoing the belt to attach it is a bit of a pain.

As for the sculpt, it lacks a bit of personality, but the likeness is there and overall I'm happy with it. Duchovny has always been a challenge to capture, as far as likeness goes, and this is as good as I've seen anybody get so far. I'd say it seems to be Mulder from around the time of the first movie or just after, or at least so my faulty memory seems to think anyway.

It may not be a wow figure (visually it is just a regular guy in a suit, after all), but this is a nice release, and I'm happy with what I got for what I paid, a few slight niggles aside. And if Scully turns out at least on par with this, I will be very happy to have the pair of them on my shelf.

Yes, the joints are loose and yes the headsculpt is a tad bit doughy, but I think he will be a lot of fun to pose and play with in the future. Why does he come with 2 guns? Does either gun fit into the holster?

I think there were a couple times the smaller gun was used on an ankle holster in the show.

If you’re an X files fan and a 1/6 collector this one is a must....although I can understand why some people are reluctant until evidence of a decent Scully to match him up with is in hand. I’m happy to pose him on his own long term if needs be.

I'm not expecting much from this release and its a busy time for me so I will likely not be able to open this for some time but you can be sure I'll be posting an honest review. I'm very very hard on three zero but I have both this and Saul goodman to open and especially Saul looks to be one of the better threezero figures so my expectations are very low which means I'm likely to be impressed if anything at all about these is worth impressing.
