I'm just going to guess they're doing these very cheaply and making a mold for the wraps is cheaper than cutting up fabric and paying a guy to actually wrap it.
agreed

I think Hasbro is onto something here with ThreeZero. This is the most competitive pricing for 1/6th scale figures in a LONG time.
I think Hasbro, possibly in their deal, along with ThreeZero, WANTS these figures under $200. Perhaps that's a reason why you're seeing a molded plastic torso instead of all the gear actually parsed out with fabric and buckles, etc. etc.
Look at the new Threezero 1/6 Power Rangers. $99 a piece. WOW.
I think a big thing here is that they're aiming at a collector group that is USED TO PAYING $20 A FIGURE. This group will scoff at $200+ (some have at these prices in the FB groups) G.I. Joe...which is partly the reason that I think the Sideshow line ended (aside from the easy "redo" troop builders they did).
Just IMO to compare Joe 1/6, the Sideshow Joes still hold up extremely well. That Camo Storm Shadow, Zartan, Firefly, Baroness, Beach Head and Chrome Commander are serious things of beauty. The Three Zero's aren't as good quality from the looks of things but Three Zero still did a great job. They won't hurt the Sideshow Joes IMO but I'm just glad we're getting new Joe stuff for sure
I have often wondered the same thing. High quality, comic-, card-, or even cartoon-accurate figures would be totally fine for me. But they either have problems in the quality department (e.g., Sideshow's Storm Shadow), base them off horrible movies (Hot Toys), or go with wacky, interpretive or modern designs that don't appeal to me at all (most of the later SSC stuff, ThreeZero). Why is it soooo hard to get 1/6 GIJoe figures done right?!..
It's like they are trying to walk a tightrope between cheap Hasbro toy and pricey high end figure.
I only hope this line does well enough so I can maybe get a Lady Jaye and Scarlett to add to my SSC collection and hopefully they look as good as the Classified figures.
I suppose it is a cost-cutting move, it impacts the overall quality of the figure. It's like they are trying to walk a tightrope between cheap Hasbro toy and pricey high end figure.
There is no cheaper creature than the average GI Joe collector. No matter how low they go, they will never tap that fan base.
He looks good but he's definitely done a cycle lol with those arms. I still like Sideshow's camo SS the best but this looks great. I only wish they would give us a cloth chest piece but oh well. He'll look good next to camo Storm Shadow
