Hate to agree with this but I kinda do. Jon was one of my favorite characters and I was all set to buy that new sculpt, but now I'm not so sure. The final and most important battle with the army of the dead, and Jon is soaring aimlessly around in the clouds. Really expected more out of him and it kinda fizzled my desire to have a figure of Jon.

Tell me about it. Since when do the dragons need Jon to ride on them to be able to fly around and breathe fire on walkers? Why isn't he on the ground taking care of business. I've also never seen so much plot armor in anything in my life. Sam was literally laying down towards the end and he still didn't die. Every single main character was at the front lines, yet magically everyone dies around them and they're fine. Then Jon gets pinned down by a dragon after the night king stupidly goes to bran instead of having his minions kill him, and Jon decides to scream at a dragon and do nothing. The night king had no story, he said nothing, he faught nobody. Nothing interesting happened with his character after a decade. Arya decides to wait until theon stupidly runs straight at the night king and die before magically jumping over a full circle of walkers to attack. It was embarrassingly bad. I don't even want to talk about bran. He's like I'm going to go now because even he didn't want to be apart of how bad the whole episode was

I think that was great. He's more than brought it in Hardhome and Battle of the bastards among other things. I thought it was cooler that the other characters had a moment to shine. Why would that make you like the character any less or make those previous efforts any less badass? I don't get that at all.

Plus his tactic was always to single out the night king as he knew that he could not get to Bran and he knew that he was the key to defeating the army of the dead. singling him out and keeping above the battle strategically is exactly what he did, the night king just got the better of him in the end.

Of course the night king, his motive and the whole build up to this battle is weak. This walker business is just a plot device to divide clearer battle lines within the families you realize that right? The whole episode was just to get them out of the way so they can get back to what the core of the show is and conclude it.

The core of the entire series IS the night king and the dead coming to kill everyone. The whole point of the books is that with all the crazy **** going on between all the houses and everyone who's alive, that they're going to have to put aside their differences and hate in order to concur death. There's a reason the shows slogan has always been winter is coming, not cersei is coming. You don't seem like you understand the show, let alone the books. The night king is not something you deal with poorly, let alone in one episode half way through a short season. There's plenty of reviews of this episode on YouTube where they go into all this.

Yeah I'll just say, the opening scene of the entire series was with a white walker.

I didn't expect the them to lose their first battle south of the wall. It didn't even distract them that much from the 'game of thrones.' It was one night.

It's great to watch the behind the scene stuff with the producers tonget an idea of what they are thinking for each episode. They said Jon has had his time to shine and they knew 2-3 reasons ago that Ayra would be the one. Decent episode but I really dont love long fights with little dialog. Looking forward to the next few episodes.

I’ll repeat what I already said the walkers are a one dimensional plot device designed to re-establish alliances around a common enemy that have become convoluted through centuries of a power struggle.

That’s what the story is about the power struggle and that’s how it’s going to end. Martin has said so himself in a few different ways.

That’s why there are three episodes left to deal with the fallout.

danys ego vs Jon’s naive nobleness despite being the true king is way more interesting and relatable to the audience than ice zombie who is after world domination.

If anyone thinks that the main point of ASOIAF and GOT is the humans fighting the Others then you have drastically missed the point of this series. It is interesting, and a good excuse for some added tension and action, but it is far from the being the biggest and most interesting plot in Game of Thrones.

:lecture

:lol ...people whining about the Battle of Winterfell...

My wife was bored and hated the lighting as I was sitting there enjoying one of the most ambitious battle sequences of all time knowing that the clock is counting down on one of the most epic television shows of all time and loving every minute of it.

People nitpicking the strategy and decisions of individuals in battle might as well nitpick the strategy of actual war and see how much sense they can make of some of the real life decisions made throughout history.

Could not agree more with this. And God damn the episode was so well done, and offered a lot of different stuff that we had not previously seen in the big battle sequences. It truly topped everything they have done as far as battles go, there were amazing effects, surprising moments.. the music was amazing... genuine character moments and things did not always go the way you expected even if you predicted it. I love on the documentary how they noted they were conscious to have different genres represented, war, horror, thriller and drama.

Very fitting ends to many characters, solid motives and logic and just a bit of chaos which helped it feel authentic.

I could nit pick it; for starters theres no way all the main characters could have survived that, bum handed Jamie, fat useless sam, marginally better at fighting little helper of Briennne etc.

Then 15 mins of people getting ripped to shreds in the crypt but lo and behold EVERY SINGLE character you know is just fine. Must have been the total three other people who were extras getting decimated.

I'm OK with Arya delivering the final blow but there is definitely a mainstream quality to the series now that that looking back to the "Red wedding" flavor seems too balsey these days. If they really wanted to punk the audience in the vein of the beginning go the series everyone would have died this episode and it would be like "surprise, there is not actually three episodes, it all ends here. Goodbye"

It's lost the edge, but in a way, you kind of earned that satisfactory payoff so I'm totally OK with it, it actually makes it all seem and feel that much better. (I mean I'm sure you could find posts from me over the years complaining it lacked basic story structure, or central characters or was too confusing etc. etc.) So without sounding like a hypocrite vibe just come around to determine that it is far and above one of the most amazing accomplishments of a modern art form in history as a series in it's entirety, and part of that is due to the roller coaster of emotions its given you... right down to annoying you, boring you, confusing you etc.)

but anyone who can say they were not entertained and that this was not an amazing accomplishment is just trolling if you ask me.

Yeah, Sam especially was a bit of a laugh... "oh look, there he is again lying down being useless and not dying".

All the fan favourites survived but... there were moments there when I was thinking, "maybe they won't get out of this".

As you say, the episode was well done. The scene with Arya tiptoeing past the walkers was just brilliant on every level. Her whole arc has been about killing, so it made sense that she was the one to deliver the fatal blow.

are there any custom 1/6 outfit artists who can do s07 Jon Snow's Stark outfit? I found Geewhiz customs and was wondering about how good they are with leather parts like these...

They can do pretty good leather custom
I asked them for a price and prototype for a season 6/7 would have been around 1.4K + then additional cost per outfit

So it would need at least 10 outfits to come to approx a 450 price point per outfit (also covering the prototype cost)

I then chose to go with the cult king version

Agreed. Despite featuring in some great scenes and battles, the White Walkers never seemed like a terribly interesting villain, and it would have been a shame to spend the entire series finale with these great characters simply fighting off a bunch of zombies the whole time, like it was just another episode of Walking Dead.

I do agree it was silly to have no major characters die in the battle though. After all the buildup, we should have lost at least 3 or 4 key characters.

I didn't realize when you tiptoe, you can produce enough wind to blow someone's hair and also produce enough speed and height to jump from above to attack someone and they have to catch you in mid flight, right after hitting your head against a wall and barely escaping brainless walkers in a hallway. Really well done.

The whole reason she got the kill is because it's 2019 and they decided to appease the Twitter crowd instead of do what would make sense. What was the whole point of Jon even coming back? They completely retconned his story and aryas. No it did not make sense for her to get the kill, her arc has been about killing people who have wronged her/killed her family.

Jon was brought back to specifically deal with the night king and the Walker threat, not to be flying pointlessly on a dragon and standing on a mountain with dany watching people getting killed because they are stupidly outside of the castle instead of inside it. That would be like the battle of helms deep except all the humans and elves are out front, oh a bunch of you have horses, why don't you pointlessly charge the biggest threat in human history especially when you can't even see how big of an army they got over there. Oh you set up a barrier that at any point you can light it on fire to keep the enemy out? Maybe you should have your army behind that at the very least. Nahhh, have them in front of it so they can all die and you're forced to retreat back to where you should have been and now you can't defend the spots where the walkers are breaking through the fire.

There's a reason the battle of helms deep is the best seige battle in film and this battle will go down as being the dumbest. The writers clearly never played a RTS game.

Arya has been training to fight for most of her life. Not really sure why anyone thinks this is a Mary Sue/SJW/"girl power" copout.

Did I think the episode/kill was perfect? Nah. But I don't expect the TV show to have the depth of the books. I pray Martin finishes them, because that's where most of the good stuff is when it comes to the prophecies and other fantasy elements.

You may be overthinking the episode. Dragons aren’t real either...just saying

Seriously some people get too into this stuff, just sit back and enjoy it, stop over analyzing and trying to apply real life ideas/limits/motivations/etc to a fiction “fantasy” television show. It’s purpose is to entertain, I was thoroughly entertained, was a fun and well made episode. Lastly it’s called game of thrones, shouldn’t it be about the throne anyway? haha

Edit: Also Jon could have been brought back to life as his purpose was to bring everyone together to defeat the Night King, he united everyone. If it wasn’t for him they would have lost before the war even started.

I was talking about the scene in the library.

When I'm watching something and thinking about what's actually going on, if things start to not make sense and the writing is bad, what else am I supposed to do. Should I just turn my brain off like a lot of people seem to do and just go, ooh ahh look dragons... Look at all the swords light up, oooooohhhh. It always comes back to the same problem. If all you have to say is praise, that's always ok and welcome, if you talk about why something was terrible, than you're either overthinking it/nitpicking/hating/trolling or my favorite is it's just a movie/show who cares. Clearly a lot of people care considering most of the YouTube videos going up right now are people talking about how stupid this episode was and the comment sections are filled with people saying they managed to kill the entire series in one episode. I'm seeing a lot of Lost comparisons, but I've never watched that so I can't speak on that.
