I totally disagree with you there. Im not going to put a number on anything as in " the top X characters" or whatnot but I'll say Ned is a top character. And this is even before the show, so your star theory doesn't really hold up either. He's always been in the top echelon of characters. As far as Arya goes, Im assuming you mean she's overlooked here ? She's another fan favorite, and I haven't been keeping score or anything but I know I've heard people here say they want her. She's a main want of mine. If they decide to make more figures after this first group Id say there's nothing to worry about. If there is a " Series 2" of sorts Id bet anything Arya and the Hound will be part of it. If not I'd be shocked.

lol ned not main character... the whole story is built around ned stark ffs

I totally overlooked Arya. I was thinking more secondary such as Brienne, The Hound, Bronn etc. As a longtime book reader and show watcher I always see Ned as the face of season 1

Ned Stark is without a doubt one of the top guns and a crucial main character. He has the 5th most screen time (through seasons 1-3)
even though he was only in season 1.
^ S1 SPOILER

Plus, many of the events triggered in the show were direct reactions to choices that Ned made.

hoping to see a prequel roberts rebellion in high budget animated form one-day. would be very cool and def deliver some more Ned action.

its evil i know but was so pleased to see the release date for Ned pushed back, tented my fingers burns style and considered that maybe it led to someone not familiar with 1/6 PO waits to cancel their order. mauahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :devil

*yes i am on wait-list*

I have thought the same thing, I think that would be so awesome! Even if it ended up being sort of lame, it would still be there for people to enjoy if they wanted.

agreed. anytime its reffed at all in the show or talked about in the world of ice and fire book i have im on the edge of my seat, love it. the rich history before the show story even starts is so effin cool. especially the Ned/Robert stuff.

I've long thought it might be a cool idea to pause the show for a season and produce a big budget Robert's Rebellion movie. That way you could keep your production teams working, use about the same budget, and also give Martin a bit more time.

But that probably wouldn't work because I'm betting there are likely some important details of what happened back then that still have yet to be revealed in the books or on the show.

Maybe not a movie, but does anyone doubt we could get a GoT prequel or spin-off TV show at some point?

Better Call Robert. It's going to be great. Baratheon and Stark will go out each week solving a local land dispute or chopping someone's hands off for stealing.

Lisa Arryn and Littlefinger were the start of the hill and Ned was their pawn. I think a Littlefinger figure is also essential to the line up as one of the most influential characters in the series.

Ned is the head of the Stark family, who really are one of the 3 major families in Westeros. Stark, Targaryen and Lannister are the major focus of the series.

I hate prequels, but I'd love a Robert's Rebellion serial or films. Great battles and we'll also get to know characters who are no longer around. A prequel could start with the friendship of Tywin and Aerys and conclude with the sack of King's Landing.

On topic: Yeah! Littlefinger, Tormund, Roose Bolton figures or something.... :lol

Roose would be epic. Also Robert's rebellion is in the works as a show or movie and same with Tales of Dunk and Egg

That would be fun.

I read a lot of fan theories and whatnot, and now that I'm listening to the books on tape, I'm really confused about where these readers get their info to support their theories. Like all the stuff speculating about Jon Snow's heritage. It seems like the only way we could get that info is from Ned's POV, and I'm nearly done with Book 2. . . and well, I still don't know where those people are getting their info.

Anyways, I am really interested in learning more about the lore and history of Westeros. I get the feeling that to really understand what's going on in the present day of Westeros, it requires understanding what went on in the past. And I really don't understand it past the broad strokes. I'm tempted to read more about the world, but I don't want spoilers. Though I already know most of the big spoilers for the upcoming books. Ahhhh, oh well.

It's mainly due to Ned's sister's relationship with Rhaegar. It is still just speculation at this point, but I've read the first 3 books and I did wonder about it. It's also because Ned never discussed this woman with anyone and he always appeared so devoted to Catlyn. It makes more sense that Ned's sister was killed during the rebellion and Ned took her son to raise him. It would be too dangerous to have anyone, particularly Robert, know that Jon is Rhaegar's son. Pretending that he was his own illegitimate son would protect Jon.

I'm pretty convinced it is the truth. Whether it all comes out is another matter.
