I've had it for half a year so I'm not sure how helpful Threezero will be. I'll shoot them a message nevertheless. Thanks for the suggestions.

Emailed customer service over the weekend they got back to me tonight and no questions asked are going to send me a replacement pair. I was doubtful that would ever happen. Thrilled.

So with all they hype preceding season 6 premiere...any news from Threezero about the next figure in the line? It's been almost half a year since they showed Jaime, and we still quite far even from completing the main characters (Dany, Arya...). They seem to be following Hot Toys tendency to get distracted; all I can see on their site are robots and terror movies figures :slap

Could be worse... you could be waiting on the Walking Dead line. Michone's pets and no Michone? Merle teased and then abandoned? We have two figures without arms or lower jaws that I wont buy until we see their master and one figure on pre-order (that isn't the version of him I was hoping for either) so we should count ourselves lucky with three in the case and one on the way.

But GoT's budget has done nothing but go up and up and up. (Pretty sure it's by FAR the most expensive show on TV.) I don't think it's about money. I honestly think they're predicting 13 (after the upcoming season) because that's how much story they have left.

I've also heard some rumblings that maybe those shorter seasons could consist of longer episodes, too. So they may end up being close to ten hours per season when all is said and done.

Yeah, and it's only gained in popularity with each season. I read that it's currently at 10 million per episode - 100 million per season. Let that sink in.

And while I was initially surprised about being at the last 13 episodes it is worth mentioning they have streamlined this story tremendously. They've cut a lot out. The books are so dense with little interesting clues and details that people have theorized over minutiae for years. Even peripheral characters have their own back stories etc.

From what I understand, even that enormous budget estimate is on the low side at this point. I don't know the exact number, but I'm betting it's closer to 15 per episode. It's a monster. Growing faster than the dragons!

I think increasing production costs sort of reinforces the idea that cutting a season short may be to reign in the budget. I'm pretty sure there's enough story left to fill two more regular-length seasons after this one if they wanted there to be.

Maybe, but I don't think the cost is a problem for the network. They rake in HUGE money for that show by selling it overseas. That's where the real money is for them. That show is sold to cable and satellite providers in every territory on the planet for big money. The executives would be thrilled to keep shelling out $150 to $200 mil per year for as many years as Weiss and Benioff wanted to go. Without that show, the network's kind of in trouble, to be honest. Nothing else they have travels particularly well internationally.

I don't think it's 15 mil. per episode. That's tremendous. [emoji38] I mean, 10 is already very high, and that's up 4 million from the past couple years....

Anyway, there's also no plans to make any spin off series at the moment. I'd love to see the Rebellion done, but I think that would make for a better movie. Now The Dance of Dragons I think would make a killer series, but it wouldn't live up to GoT.

My educated guess is, it's definitely over 10 per episode. Some episodes are much more expensive than others, obviously, depending on what's needed). But the sheer size of the production overall is bigger than most movies. They shoot with at least three units simultaneously in five different countries for six months at a time. It's massive.

(FYI: While I have zero specific inside knowledge other than what's been reported and guessed at publicly, I do sometimes find myself sitting at a desk at a company that may or may not rhyme with Shmayche Beeyoh ....)

It cost $10 mil for the pilot and average of $6 mil per episode for season 1. Things have gone up with dragons, etc so $10 mil per episode for some of the bigger ones is realistic but some of the episodes did not have as much in terms of diversified sets, locations, costumes, etc. Xerces walk of shame for example had a lot less money in costumes (especially for her) than a large battle or dozens of men on horseback (or a dragon fighting in an arena or something).

When I was working on season III there was some talk of doing a Rebellion spin off but that was partly due to at the time they were contemplating how to waste time until R.R. finished the books. Obviously they have taken a different path but I wouldn't rule out the Rebellion once everyone starts Jonesing for GOT.

The Missus and I are so not ready for Sunday! We always do GoT-themed dinners for the season premieres and we haven't made any preparations or done any shopping at all for this one yet!

I do the same with my BF and I bought tshirts for us both. I'm so excited for Sunday :)

Awesome!

We seriously need to do some emergency menu planning tonight! Sometimes the recipes get a little complicated!

Here's a shot of last year's feast:

(We base the menu and tablewear on the map. Last year's theme was King's Landing. I think we were going to do Dorne this year, but it may come down to what we can throw together at the last minute!)

Very cool, Bucky! How about the food? Do you a make things from the GoT cookbook, or ideas from the novels?

I think I may be more amped for this season than any other, and I do think it will be excellent. Yeah, I know it feels like myself and others say this every year, but this season had a TON going for it. One of which is that we'll finally see some payback for the "bad guys" and more importantly answers to long held questions. It's the most expensive year thus far, and had the longest shooting schedule for one set piece. Looking mighty forward to that one. I suspect tht will be the year end big episode. Weiss and Benioff have said there isn't a weak episode and there are a lot of shockers and big moments. This is the sort of stuff expected from the creators, but I believe them just from what I do know of this season which isn't a whole lot due to the ultra secretive measures taken this season. Come on Sunday!!!

Yup! All the dishes are from the GoT cookbook! There's some great stuff in there! Though every once in a while we have to make some ingredient substitutions, however, since our local PathMark doesn't carry a lot of boar meat!

Hardcore menu planning begins in earnest after work tonight! (If we don't have enough time, though, maybe we'll save the feast for the season finale instead.)
