Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I like Shane. He had a ****** attitude, but I really think that he made for a great sympathetic antagonist that worked well as a foil against Rick (especially since he always felt so guilty about what he did to Otis compared to Rick who always seemed more sure of himself when he killed others). I also liked the dynamic between Shane and Dale as they essentially represented the opposite ends of the moral spectrum in Season 2.

Carol is amazing though. She's sort of a motherly figure but an effective lone survivor through and through. Also, she's the only female character left from the original Atlanta group. I like that she doesn't have to act like a typical Hollywood action girl for us to know that she's badass. Now that's great characterization right there. :lecture

If they made a Shane with 2 heads, with hair and shaved head I would buy him for sure. I also really liked his role as a character who took the difficult but necessary measures vs often straight up evil antagonist. The first two seasons would have been nowhere without him. It would probably be too much to ask but a zombie head would be great too. For me figure wise it would be Rick first, Darryl second, and then probably a tie between Shane and Michonne. Three zero is costing themselves a lot of money IMO. By the time some of these characters get released a lot of people will be over the show. Hell a lot of people would have bought 3 versions of just Rick by now if they were available.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Shane's place in the show was very necessary for all the reasons that you guys said. I love him as an antagonist and for all that he did to make the show riveting, but I hate him as a scumbag backstabber. But getting that kind of emotion (for better or for worse) from the viewers is what makes a great character.

Believe it or not, I disliked him (not his role in the show, but as a character) so much that I never wanted a Shane in my collection... but now I actually would entertain the idea if the final product was impressive

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Last night's episode was a little too much, IMO. I still feel the second half of this season hasn't been well-balanced. Last night episode was good, if just a little excessive on the gore - freezing the camera in multiple scenes only made it worse, kind of very cheap low-budget moves, IMO.

Nah, it was a good reminder of the world now. It also evoked a ton of empathy, esp for Noah. Horrible way to go. Now if we could only get some figures....

I completely agree. It was also a great homage to old-school B-horror films (which were loaded with over-the-top violence) much like Pixelpiper said, only I don't think it's a negative thing at all. It is a show revolving around the zombie apocalypse after all...

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

What comes first: The next figure released from TWD or a teaser figure from TWD spin off? :lol

Yeah lol.

I don't know what to think about this spin off. I feel like it will be the same thing with just a different group of people.

I like spinoffs when the original show has finished, but airing alongside it....not so much.

My friend told me the spin off will take place right at the start of the outbreak. If that's true, they won't be running side by side at all.

Ah okay. That will probably better. No likelihood of crossovers or anything.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

Yeah, from what I've read, the spin-off is going to follow an LA family during the days immediately before during and after the outbreak. Does this mean they'll have a MUCH bigger budget, I wonder? Especially since it's set in LA, not the Georgia woods?

I have to admit though, one of the things I really liked about the original WD pilot was that they skipped over that part. We've already seen that in tons of other monster/disaster movies. (Heck, The Strain is about to do that whole "social order breaking down" this fall for their entire Season 2.) Somehow, letting Rick sleep through the "big set pieces," it made the show a lot more personal and intimate. Everything was less "Hollywood" and more human-scaled.

I'm reserving judgment until I see the spin-off, of course, but I'm just not sure how much different they can make that show before it starts to cover similar territory to the original.

Just like 28 Days Later and probably umpteen other examples. ;) So it's not necessarily original. It would be nice if the spin-off were somewhat different in some respects.

Oh, sure. Never said it was original! Just more personal. Which really worked for me from a storytelling standpoint. Instead of hordes of thousands of anonymous walkers, we got to focus on a few key ones, like Bicycle Girl and Morgan's Wife, who could then tell their own specific heartbreaking stories through the specifics of their designs.

I really want the spin-off to be awesome. But once they get past the initial outbreak phase, it seems kind of inevitable that they're going to start covering similar territory. But I hope not! With the high profile of the show and their established track record, they certainly should be able to assemble a kick-ass writers' room. I'm keeping my crossables firmly crossed!

I'm also hoping that either show eventually goes to a wintery location so we get to see how walkers respond to the cold. (I'm sure Nicotero has a whole notebook crammed with cold zombie gags. Icicles through the eye, shovel decapitations, snowblower grinding, shattering zombies like the T1000 in the liquid nitrogen, walkers suddenly reaching out of snowbanks, humans trying desperately to escape slow moving walkers but they're slipping and sliding on black ice ... could be awesome.)

Some great ideas in there! But before that I just want a damn 1/6 Rick Grimes please.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: 1:6 AMC's The Walking Dead

I would have liked it to be set in another country, so we could get an idea of how wide spread it is, or where it may have started.

Another season has come and gone...
Well next Sunday is the finale.
Still nothing new from ThreeZero.
How sad and disappointing.
