Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

I don't know what it is, but that HH statue just doesn't scream out AMAZING to me. I think the colors are a bit muted and the paint job overall just doesn't seem the best. I dunno, it just doesn't POP. There's really something missing. The 1/4 rear view of that statue someone posted earlier looks REALLY cool and pending some prototype painted images I would probably be on board for that.

That crouching statue though... just not very appealing.

The Mumm-ra one that HH is putting out looks super cool! Colors are great and very reminiscent of the classic cartoon with exceptional detail.

Here's what I was thinking more for Lion-O... a bit more vibrant paint app and more detail in the hair, not as chunky. I would normally say the method they did was okay, but they added so much fur detail to the skin areas that they should have applied that much detail to the whole thing. It's like they chose a half way between more realistic and toony. The toony hair with the more realistic fur details doesn't quite look right. Maybe if the fur wasn't so detailed so it was more of the cartoon series look. I'd be all for a realistic look to them, but it looks like they could have put more into this piece.

All good reasons not to pick up the HH line. If its not for you than hopefully the 1/4 stuff will be more to your liking.

The more Thundercats products the better. Not everything has to be for everyone.

Say who made that King of Darkness you got there?

Oh yeah... Sideshow ;)

Hell YES!!! We've gone from zero lines to two in about a years time, that's great for us Thundercats fans. Now if someone could pick up the license to make action figures I will be in heaven!

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

Yes, action figures are the next step... and really, they seem to be the last great 80's line not to get the nostalgia bump.

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

Who made the original Thundercats figure line?

You gotta see it in person man, the colors POP. And I think HH found a way to make them look on model for the show while still maintaining a sense of realsim. Besides T-Cats would look super weird too realistic. These stautes are awesome and affordable. :duff

Ok, so it wouldn't be as simple as Mattel with the He-Man classics then.

Exactly... specially since now WB holds the rights...
There's hope though, Mattel is making DC figures and last year during SDCC they said they were actively pursuing the license...
Maybe this time around they'll announce it?!!!

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

The license is clearly being shopped out so nothing is impossible at this point.

For me though, the HH statutes and the PFs coming will be enough.

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

I think there'd be some fun in getting figures like the Matty He-Man line. I loved my Thundercats as a kid, but seeing more ultimate figures like Matty's done with He-Man would be cool. I'm sure there's a chance, but if someone doesn't already have rights to it, it'll just be a bit more work, didn't Matty already have rights to He-Man all along?

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

Nope, they know there's interest but the rights seem to be kind hard to get. At least for action figures.

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

The 4 Horsemen want to sculpt them. "Dream project..."

Re: Thundercats 1/4 Scale Mixed Media Statues by Popcultureshock?

And I think that the 4 Horsemen have more than proven they can do great vintage lines with both MOTUC and DCUC.

I'd have every confidence in a Thundercats line kicking all kinds of ass :rock

Right Ill, I asked Cornboy face to face (he was at the SSC booth too). I'd kill for some updated figures. And Silverhawks too.
