Here's a quick shot of a custom I've been working on . ( It's not a very good picture , but I'll post some more in the next couple of days ). It's my version of Thor Odinson , Prince of Asgard and God of Thunder . I didn't intend to base him on any Marvel version , but there are obviously a couple of "nods" to that particular take on the character .

He's a way off being finished , but I'm getting toward the look I'm after . :wink1:

Here's a quick update of my Thundergod bash . I've added a fur belt and dragon skull to the right shoulder . I'm trying to move away from the "super-hero" look and get a more down and dirty "Viking/Game of Thrones " vibe going . I plan on adding more leather straps , belts and a sword .

Still quite a bit of work to do , but I'm quite pleased with the way he's coming together . I'm pretty proud of the fact that every part of the outfit is scratch built !
( I apologise for the poor photos , but my camera is stuck between two settings , both of which are pretty crap !):pfft:

Nice work! He looks good for me, but only I have little problem with helmet / head. Maybe it is my problem or photos problem (with bad shadows, only on last pic look good), but head looks too small in it and then complete figure looks for me little funny than rage scary! I hope that you know what I mean. Anyway fur looks amazing! I'm looking forward on next progress.

I see what you mean elar ! The shadows do make the helmet look too large .The problem is getting the figure to look good in photos as "in the flesh " the figure looks much more dynamic . ( Take my word for it !):lol

i like him, he looks like a proper norse thor, i always hated what some of the marvel vers looked like, esp the the movie , they just looked like spacemen, but yours looks great have you considered changing the body?

Thor's built on a BBI G3 , which though o.k , is not really as nice as I'd like , but is what I had handy at the time . I do have one of the old Hot Toys muscle bodies ( currently in the form of a "Dutch " custom ), which I'm considering using instead , but I've not yet decided whether I'm happy with "doing away " with Major Shaeffer !

I'm going to try out the muscle body over the next couple of days . I'm not 100% happy with losing some articulation , but if he can raise Mjolnir over his head in a convincing manner I may be able to live with it ! :lol

Well , I made the decision to use the Hot Toys muscle body after all ! I'm pretty pleased with the results , though I'll need to re-do the figures wristbands . I had to adapt the ankle joints as well , which had the ( welcome) side effect of adding a half inch to Thor's height .

( Thanks to elar for bringing into question the matter of the body I'd used , I'd probably have not even considered using the muscle body otherwise ! ) :wink1:

Well , after only a year or so , I've gotten around to doing a little more work on Thor . I'm in the process of re-working the helmet by adding new wings and armour at the back .

I've added another belt and scabbard for the sword . I want more belts and buckles etc , as well as details such as pouches , water bottles and the like .

I've done away with the "hair" joined onto the helmet ( it now fits better ) and have added a braided "pony-tail " . Just realised I've not photographed this , I'll add it on my next update .

Quick update of the little bit of work I've done on Thor . I've lined the "cheek armour" of the helmet with some craft foam so as to fill out and add a little depth to the area . I also added his braid or ponytail and trimmed a little of the "mail" at the back of the helmet . I still need to add some matt coat to dull down this area so I can weather it more to match the rest of the helmet .

[

I also added some "clasps" for the cloak . The use of skulls may be a little clichéd and not " historically accurate " , but after all it's a fantasy based figure so you HAVE to have some somewhere ! These will also need some weathering .
