OK here goes...............there are a few pictures and at the bottom a rough inventory of what I used to create this custom Predator.........
So until Hot Toys makes one or the 32" monster is released i have this to rule my predator collection....
It has probably taken between 40 hours to get this far but i think its worth it..............so what did it take...well....
Body:
This was a totally repainted BD Predator 2, so many different colours went into that one....learnt had to wash with the paints thanks Elder
Modifications included changing the hands to add a more glove effect like the P1 plus slight mods on the feet.
The body was covered in the body net from a modified avp elder in the end as the p2 one didn't work out.
Head:
A fully repainted avp elder with major mods done on the forehead to cover the blood symbol plus changed the mandibles. Removed every dread, shorten them in length and removed half the wire from each to give it a better drop plus repainted each one with black and bronze......this activity alone must of been 5 hours work
Added the avp quills but cut them pretty much in half. so they fitted in with the P1 better.
Armour:
Used some wolf blades for the right gauntlet, removed the leather straps and webbing also from both gauntlets (more on that later). Did some little dry brushing over the all the armour with silver then black. At this stage i used some of the tubing from a 'retired' mcfarlane p1 to compliment the armour plus added some standard electrical wire to represent the leads that would of gone to the helmet
Misc:
Made a new loincloth from some standard brown fake leather, worked quite well in the end. Now remember the leather straps removed from the gauntlets, well they were re-used as the means of holding the skulls and spine around the body.....a good re-use i feel as the result is excellent plus also reused the webbing as some arm bands/wrapping...i think you can make this out in the sideshow figure. The bones around his kneck was also from the mcfarlane figure.
As mentioned previously this was the hardest one to assemble out of all my preds, could be because it is a mix of so many different preds.....but must of taken about 3 hours in total
This weekend I will be working on the base to make it more suitable and I have a predator sign coming to round off what is my first attempt at a custom, previously i have only tried clothing swaps and dioramas.....this was my first and very enjoyable to
I am thinking of putting on some gloss varnish to his head only to give it that glistening effect as seen on the 32" monster...what do you think ?
So guys there you have it.........thanks for the encouragement as it kept me going, and Les thanks for your comments....having those from someone as expert as you it a big boost
