Yeah...I hate that they are doing this. They had a great ending. But sign me up I'll be there

Meh, 3 was a perfect ending. There's no need for anlther. Looks like Pixar is all about sequels now. I didn't bother with Monsters University or Finding Dory and I don't think I'll bother with this.

Toy Story 4 isn't really designed to be a sequel so much as a parallel universe reboot. Lasseter wants to diversify the gender and ethnic profiles of the toys, but retain the familiar character cast attributes and behaviours.

Woody is recast as an African-American, Buzz is in Spanish mode, Jesse is Ju Xi, Rex is gay and Ham is transitioning transgender-identify straight.

Should be good.

At the time they had other films in between. Now it's one sequel after another.

I guess Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur don't count? Two non-sequels in a row.

Before TS4 and Incredibles 2 come out they have Cars 3 :gah: and Coco. Considering that Pixar has committed to making 2 films a year, I'd be surprised if TS4 and Incredibles 2 didn't have an original, non-sequel film in between them.

I agree, the quality is slipping a bit. I wish the Cars movies didn't exist, but I guess Cars is a merchandising cash cow for them. If making Cars movies means I get to see riskier films like Up, Wall-E, and Inside Out, I can accept it. If not, I think we'd only be seeing sequels.

I wish they wouldn't commit to two a year. I feel like the one movie a year thing they had going back in the 2000s was the ideal system.

I agree but up to now they were supposed to only have had one film per year but The Good Dinosaur was held up a year (can't remember why anymore) which is why we got nothing in 2014 and then two in 2015.

I like the first Cars movie quite a bit. It's not as intelligent as their other movies but there's still plenty of fun stuff that distracts me from the slightly unoriginal story - I personally think the world being run by talking cars is quite a funny thing. :lol And I also think that some of the desert animation that they did for that first film is among their best background work. Cars 2 isn't so good. It's pretty dumb. Watchable, but below the standard that they set so high for themselves. But I can definitely see how kids like those movies, they're far more high octane (heh) than their other films bar Incredibles, especially the second Cars.

And yeah, if the profits off a Cars movie keep them making movies then Inside Out then I'm 100% behind them. :lol But they didn't need that back in the 2000s. Something's got to have changed.

That is very true.

I'm not mad into animated films generally. I've only seen 2 and 3 once each. I recall thinking that the third one ended very well though. It will be a shame if they ruin it with a crap tacked-on instalment.

they made shorts that happened After the third movie and those were fun to watch so i dont think is that bad of an idea
it could almost be like a reboot since the story will feature the new toys and the new girl

This is true but where do you take the story from there? After such a satisfying ending people won't want to see another film with the same story (toys get into scrape because they somehow get away from Andy, they eventually get back to Andy etc).

Pixar are going to have to find something new for this one if they want to make it work, I think.

Perhaps the toys could take on new personalities to reflect their new owners personality.

That'll never happen.
