I know over time Hot Toys improved on the first sculpts they did, and his (along with all the AVP guys) are pretty damn basic... but what were the reasons you sold him?

I know over time Hot Toys improved on the first sculpts they did, and his (along with all the AVP guys) are pretty damn basic... but what were the reasons you sold him?

I think the only real issue the AVP Elder has is the paint because we've seen how good it can look if painted better.
But I agree, out of all of them it's the worst "straight out of the box" Predator.

I don't think so. I liked him, but I just didn't have enough money to get him. I think that the Chopper was the worst because there was nothing painted on to make him different from Scar and Celtic, a least Elder was different. But that's just my oppinion.

Gotta disagree here - Elder is a kick-ass pred. He really stands out on the shelf from all the others IMO (with his cape - different headsculpt, etc..). He really is the most unique pred in the line.

IMO, his only drawback is that you have to glue the face spines on yourself.. other that that, I think he rocks. Looks like some people got hooked up from Toys2 - hopefully is wasn't a scalper that bought all of 'em!

The Elder was awesome but I wasn't a fan of the AVP Preds because the head sculpts...though Hot Toys did a solid job, it was partially also cause the film designers "humanized" the look of the Predators (Anderson confirmed this).

I partially agree. The sculpt is very good and film-accurate; the paintjob stinks. What's crazy is the Elder is painted differently to the younger preds - but to a darker scheme rather than the lighter one in the film!

I just got Chopper and I have to disagree. The different helmet with it's inaccurate copper gold color and two speared skulls really make him stand out. I think he also is the only Predator that had the larger arm blades in the movie, nether Celtic or Scar should be posed with them on.
Also, Elder's head really isn't all that unique, it was first used on Ani-Com Scar rerelease so those that have that version already have the AVP Elder head.

It's the other way around isn't it? The AVP Elder was released mid 2006 IIRC, while the Ani-Com Scar was released around September that year. The 'exclusive' was basically achieved by repainting existing components.

Was it? I only bought the first release so I wouldn't know for sure. But it seems to have been released around the same time.
It still means that the Elder head sculpt isn't all that different for those that bought the Ani-Com Scar and have him displayed with that head.
Edit: I looked them up, Chopper and Elder were announced first, but they all came out about the exact same time, September 06.

yeah I agree with you screamingmetal. I have no idea why i wrote all of that. I got Chopper too and his mask, the big @$$ arm blades, and the poles w/human shulls sure make him stand out. But the cape is something that no otheer predator can take from Elder.
