Has anyone ordered from them recently?
I've placed 2 orders in the past month with no issues.
On Friday June 1,2012 I placed an order from them and got the 2 e-mails from them. A receipt e-mail and processing e-mail. Usually that's followed up with an e-mail with a tracking number. It didn't come so I sent them an e-mail asking for the tracking number. A few days went by then I got an odd e-mail asking me to send them the middle 8 digits of my credit card. I'll post what it stated...

Thanks for your order,

YOU ARE 2 STEPS AWAY FROM HAVING YOUR ITEMS DELIVERED!

We are currently processing your order. In order to protect you against credit card theft, would you please let us know your credit card middle 8 digits (xxxx-????-????-xxxx) for verification, then we will charged your card and refunded a small amount to your credit card (less than 3$) , then, we would like you to tell us what is that small amount.

It only takes a few minutes to call your bank OR check your online statement in order to verify that amount. Then, please contact us to let us know what the amount was. This will confirm you as the proper cardholder and we will be able to process your order.

Step 1:
Email us the 8 digits (xxxx-????-????-xxxx) for verification.
From today to 2 business days, call your credit card company or check your online statement to find out the verification amount that was charged to your credit card.
Remember this verification amount is less than 3$ and will be refunded by Toy Square after finishing verification.

Step 2:
Email us to confirm this amount.

Please also note that the verification amount might take 2 business days to appear on your statement, so please be patient. In the meantime, we are not delaying the process of your order; we are preparing it so it can be shipped as soon as you confirm us the amount. Still, we will need this confirmation before releasing the package for shipment at the end of the process.

We will be waiting for your feedback for five (5) business days. If we do not hear from you within this time, we will assume you wish to cancel the order.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but we have found this to be the quickest and easiest way to protect our customers.

Best regards,

Carman

Has anyone else ever got this sort of e-mail from them?
The website is now closed for maintenance and it only has one phone number as (905)-470-0007
Does this sound legit?
When I've placed orders from them before this has never happened and I'm hoping that other members could give me advice.

Hmm. Not quite like that. Certainly not as longwinded. They have asked me to provide my card number divided into 2 seperate emails twice before - the most recent was because my credit card was expired and I was providing my new details so they could charge for existing orders, the other time if memory serves was because I hadn't actually placed an official order for a couple of figures through their website - I just told them I had cancelled a figure with Sideshow so as to order with them instead and they noted that and held it for me when it came in, without an actual order having been placed.

This seems strange if you've ordered with them before. Why do they need you to do this now?

Ummm, been a while since I order there, but they had never asked that. Might be a bad idea to go forward and do that. I say wait. I see their website is down for maintenance, so just wait until they are back up and email again. Don't sound right, might be a hack trying to steal your info.

Did you get any charges to your card/account yet? I don't know, sending that kind of info via email doesn't seem as safe then sending it through a secure transaction. Though sometimes that may not always be the case.

I'd definitely try to get in contact with them on the phone. Wouldn't want to disclose that info electronically. Their email may have been compromised.

No charges yet, I didn't send any info other than when I placed the order online.
I'll try and call on Friday, not sure what their hours are though, the site doesn't say.

Just call or forget about doing the transaction for them in the mean time until they get their site fixed up. Even if they say that those emails are legit over the phone, you're still taking a risk.

If they can't do the transaction over the phone then I'll cancel it.
I just hope they can place the order with out those other steps.

Update: I tried to call Toys2 this morning around 11am and I got no answer, the phone just rang.
I called the credit card company and they said the sale is pending, and not to give them information, since I've used them in the past.
I'm going to try calling them again.
