Early reports are that the train was going twice as fast as it should have been going through a bend and that the driver was a cowboy. He survived and is in custody. Tragic and appalling.

'Train crash in Spain' is really hard to say three times fast.

Dunno. Some say that the train was approaching a station which explains the placement of the camera. And the leading locomotive makes it through the turn while the trailing cars derail and take the entire thing down.

Did you say eureka?

Surprised nobody posted the big train crash in Canada that wiped out a big chunk of a town.

Yeah.. lots of major train accidents lately. Strange year this 2013 has been.

People don't know what the word murder means anymore. This guy didn't murder these people. His actions got them killed no doubt, but it wasn't murder.

Spanish media reported boasts Garzon Amo allegedly posted on Facebook about how fast he was driving a train in March 2012.

The 52-year-old, who together with a second driver survived the crash, allegedly posted a picture of a train speedometer at 200km/h (124mph), writing: "I'm at the limit and I can't go any faster or they will give me a fine." His Facebook page has since been blocked.

the guy was charged with 79 counts of murder. doesn't there have to be an intention to kill for murder? shouldn't it be vehicular manslaughter by train? he will get his license back but he'll probably be in jail for a majority of the rest of his life being that he's an old man so i doubt he'll be able to use it.

Remember you're not talking about the US.

Old man? Why is it that some think people in their 40s and 50s are OLD? Someone called Hugh Jackman an old man in the Wolverine thread. :lol

That's the guy who posted pics on FB about how fast he was driving the train?

it was an express train traveling within the tolerable limits EXCEPT for the turn he derailed on. he was traveling twice as fast as he should have been into that turn. he had to of missed the signal and possibly fell asleep because it was nearing the end of a long run. isn't this the driver? looks like the same guy. found out he's 52. he looks OLD for 52!

they're saying he was on his cell phone and missed the signal to slow for the curve.

What an effin' *********.

Reminds me of all the drivers on the road who seem to think they're race car drivers (and also talking on their cells).

Heard he was called by another driver asking about a route and he was busy looking at a map and didn't notice the slow down sign 4km earlier.

He's charged with 79 murders caused by carelessness which'll probably be classified as unintentional murder.
