I don't think anyone is putting down any of those great talents, though. I think everyone is simply impressed with Trevor's skills, especially at such a young age.

I am impressed with Trev. I just think that everyone acts like his works are the second coming and that everyone else just pails. Which isn't true at all. I've seen several posts on this board how everyone that SS uses isn't as good which again isn't true.

It's remarkable how much the whole line has improved just in the past year alone, a lot of it due to Trevor's work, sure, but in general. :rock

A year ago (Please ignore the guy in the background. He's not part of the collection):

I have to say, when all displayed together like that , they do look awesome. Is that how you have them displayed or did you just pose them for the picture??

Trevor really needs to get to work on his Malcolm Reynolds replacement sculpt. Its just not right to show that to people and then say it broke.

Now if we can just persuade him to work on the rest of the crew...

While SS does employee many amazing talents, what impresses me most about Trev's work is the consistency and subtle personality of all his stuff. So far as comparing work, looking at takes of the same subject by different artists is generally the way to go and I think most would agree that Trev's Obi Wan edges out Andy's and his ANH Luke is light years better than Mat's Yavin Luke.

Also, Trev has had the good fortune to work on some of the higher profile portraits lately and has received attention accordingly.

Trev's work is incredibly consistent, however I can't say he's better than the others. Mat's ROTJ Luke is still the high bar for Luke, and Oluf captures real 'soul' in his portraits. Something about subtle expressions that he makes. His Spike figure, Buffy, Palpatine, Dracula, Doggett, Qui Gon and Maul, really goes beyond just a likeness and while Trevor transfers almost computer perfect detail, the closest he has come is to grabbing the emotion is Clonobi and Old Ben. Andy's sculpts always struck me as representing a true fan's vision of how a character should be represented. Tim is so underrated its pathetic. The man can make you feel the humanity inside an alien.
Trevor is phenomenal and since he's so young he is just going to eclipse everyone at some point, and he'll probably still have his trademark modesty and humility. I don't think a day goes by that Trevor doesn't pinch himself to see if he's dreaming or really living his dream.

Trevor also gets more recognition on this board compared to other Sideshow artists because he occasionally discusses some of the details of his work with us, which I think a lot of members appreciate. If other artists did the same, I'm sure we would be talking about them too.

Great pics, Monk. Didn't you also post one of yourself nude with your figures? Or am I thinking of someone else? :lol

That is some mancrush you have going there. . .

Whatever dude. I think it would be great to hear from a lot more Sideshow artists. Not just sculptors, but tailors and others too. I wish more would visit this board.

Look at how people nit pick these figures to death. If you were an artist, would you want to come here to hear the constant criticism?

If Sideshow artists took the time to come on here to discuss their work once in a while, I'm sure criticism would be much more tactful. Suggestions and crticisms are repeated over and over ad naseum on this board because we never hear Sideshow's perspective. There is no way to tell if the artists ever read any of this stuff or if they even care.

I sincerely doubt that. With the influx of posters it seems tact has gone down as has SS interaction. Shame really.
