TrueType stands - which type is better - the crotch holders or the waist holders?

Crotch stand for me too. The less intrusive and less obvious. Admittedly, some posses doesn't work as well but there are workarounds. I can actually get my figure legs close together with this stand, though I wouldn't do it with rubber or leather material.

Waist like most people mentioned here are too tight, even more restrictive, very obvious, and bad for costumes.

I don't think the waist stand was ever meant for the legs cause the opening is too big and your figure have to stand offset of the base. Look really odd that way.

Depends on the figure.

Where it can be easily concealed under armour (e.g. SSC Stormtroopers) or clothing, I prefer the waist stands.

Where that is not really an option and/or I want to move the figure about a lot, the crotch stand works. Oh, and yeah, be careful using these with rubber unless you like shiny marks on the inner thighs of your figures :slap

However, I don't really use them at all in my main display case.

they both have their advantages. But the biggest advantage of the crotch holder is YES it is faster to take him off the stand and re-pose him.

I prefer the waist holders. Except if it's a rubber suit (DX Bats for example) I prefer the crotch.

But usually the waist holder is what I like.

I lift up the characters jacket (if he has one), and clamp the holder on the shirt and put the jacket over it. It's barely visible in most cases.
