Hey guys,
I didn't see a thread regarding these...I've seen that quite a few people are getting their orders in now, and thought it would be interesting to have one thread for people to post their thoughts on them.
I got one in the mail yesterday, and have the rest on the way from Viking Playground (Thanks Alexei!), and I thought I'd post my thoughts in case anyone is thinking of picking one up.
I got the Navy blue suit for a "Quantum of Solace Movie Poster" Bond custom, with a Toy City gun and Feng head. It looks sweet all put together...I'll try to get some pics for you guys tonight.
I'm going to compare it a bit to the HT Two-Face Suit, since that's the only one I have any experience with right now.
What it comes with - Shirt, Tie, Shoes, Pants, Jacket, and Vest.
The Shoes - A direct knockoff of the standard HT dress shoe that comes with the Dent figure and the Tony Stark suit set. It's a GOOD knockoff though, I wouldn't be able to really tell the difference between the two except the sole seems to be a little cheaper plastic. Overall, I'm happy with it, and the HT feet pegs fit in them just fine. Which means the pegs are the same as the TTL pegs - gotta see if I can pick up a few of those bodies to play around with.
The Shirt - It's a cotton-like fabric, a little coarse. Good quality stitching and design, and nice to-scale buttons. It's thicker than the HT version, but I like it. I've had dress shirts like this before. It closes with three metal snaps on the front, which work well. The only problem with it is there's no connection at the neck or on the sleeves at the wrist, so they just sit open. I used a drop of superglue on the wrists, and the top is held together with the tie, but I was put off by that. Having to use other fastening materials is a no-no in my book.
The Tie It's black, a man-made fabric, similar to the suit. It's a good scale and size, though it's folded over and glued on the underside, and it's a thicker material than HT's. This becomes an issue when trying to tie it, because it puckers a bit on the underside - not a dealbreaker, but a little disappointing. On that note, WHY is it untied? Took me an hour to tie the damn thing and I'm still not quite happy. It's too short the way I tied it, which is fine since I'm using the vest but wouldn't work if it was open. Pain in the butt. See if you can get something else pretied for this one.
The Suit First off, it's cut to fit a Narrow TT (and whatever the TTL equivalent of that is). So on my regular TT, it's snug in the chest and shoulders, but I can't really mark them down for that, since it's not designed for this body. It's not crazy tight, but a little snug. The sleeves seem a smidge short, though I think that's due to the bigger shoulders in the regular TT.
The suit is a man-made fabric I believe, a bit stiff, and smells a little funny...I can't describe it but I washed my hands after. If it was full-scale I would say it was a Poly blend, though I don't know what it is here. It's thin, and I like the way it hangs on the body very well. It's really well tailored too - all the pockets are here, and actually work, and though it doesn't come with a belt (WHY doesn't it come with a belt?!) there are loops here so you can add one.
The Pants are a good length and fit, and sit well. They have a single snap in front, which is good enough and works.
The vest has two snaps in front, which works well, though as I mentioned it's a bit snug on the chest so the snap is more visible than it would be on a narrow TT.
The jacket DOESN'T close, just like the Two-Face. I see why the do this, so you can display the figure with the jacket open and not see snaps. But for my purposes, I needed it closed, and since it's snug on the front I couldn't use my normal trick of double-sided tape since it wouldn't hold so the super glue came out again. The open pocket in the jacket is a nice touch, since bond had a hanky in it in the poster, and I was able to add it.
Conclusion - I'm happy with my purchase and look forward to getting my other suits for my other Bonds. The tie is really the major pain, and I don't see why they didn't put velcro at the wrists of the shirt and why they didn't include a belt, but it's a display worthy piece that looks great on the shelf and on par display-wise with a HT.
What do you guys who've received yours think?
