Tonight's guest review is from Don Bledsoe, and covers the 12" Legolas. You'll want to mark this date on your calendar, because I believe it's the first time ever that a guest reviewer has been harder on a figure than I have. I also have my review of the Legolas up today, over at Quick Stop. You can find links to all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

I AGREE 100% WITH THE REVIEWER PARTICULARY ON THE SCULPT CATEGORY.LOOKS TOO ''MANLY'' AND THAT CHIN.....OHHH THAT CHIN...

I can't agree with the guest at all. The chin might be a bit square in the pics but overall it appears to not be an issue in person. I agree with you Mike on pretty much all accounts I think this figure overall is really fantastic.

Interesting reviews...
It is true that with the side by side pics SST's Legolas looks pretty bad, but it's the same with Medi's Luke: he's got the attitude, and that matters the most to me.

Mine will be here friday...

Both reviews are good, even the nit-picky one...

Michael, I appreciate the cautionary heads-up on attaching the gear. That's always a concern on these figures with my big mitts...I'll be sure to take care...

I'd eventually like to display him with the cloak on and the gear over it, as illustrated in your first picture on the review....do you have a good shot from the back how that looks?

Again, thanks for the good reviews...can't wait for this guy!

as critical as you all probably see me with sideshow figures, i must say that the chin on legolas is pretty unnoticeable in person. Legolas is definitely an A figure, it could be an A+ if they did some "minor" tweaks to some things, particularly the type of material that they used for his clothing which needs to be softer and not as stiff like aragorns duster thing. Also the elven brooch should have been perhaps metal since they did extremely well with Aragorn's pendant.

Other than that, what an amazing figure and he looks awesome up on the shelf.

Thats good to hear about 12hrs before i have him in hand.:D

(and lord knows i trust ya when it comes to opinions on figs..we got about the same taste!):legolas

posing him with the bow takes some time to get used to...especially positioning his two arms just right so it looks as natural as possible, but it can be done.

Considering how much angst there was about the sculpt before it was in hand - I was blown away by it on arrival. Sure if you hold it side by side with a picture you are going to notice a few differences. I bet if you held two pictures of the actor six months apart you could pick differences.

Personally I would have put the sculpt between 3 and 3.5 - particularly in light of the lack of paint problems on it which might otherwise detract from it.

He's a real solid figure and definitely one of the better looking ones on my shelf. There are some nit-picky issues as everyone has said, but I think his arrival really bodes well for the series!

And I did tear the hole in the strap (gasp) when trying to attatch the quiver, but just punched another one through with a needle and I was good to go :chew

Legolas, as a complete package, is fantastic. I think the 2 "nit-picks" I have are with the bulky chin and the mold line on the hair. But none are deal breakers. I can understand the line due to the molding process but why the change in the chin?

Good reviews, both of them!

But while I'm glad that the chin issue doesn't bug everybody, I still wouldn't go as far as calling this the best Bloom likeness in collectible form. Surely that honor should go to Weta's Legolas and Gimli on Arod sculpture?

I would lean on the Legolas/Gimli piece but this is a very close second.

I got mine today and did the same thing. Overall the figure looks great, but this strap is just too short, I wish they came up with a better way of connecting the strap since it'll be under a lot of strain from the bulk of the cloak underneath.
I was thinking about adding a strip of leather to the existing strip with glue, but I'm not sure if it will look good. I might just try putting a new hole in and hope it won't tear again.
