I just really wanted to see if Ken Shamrock still had any fight left in him.
I have seen his last few fights and the answer is sadly no. He has been knocked out in the first round by nobodies.
Did he have fights after Ortiz, I could of sworn that he was gonna retire after that fight, maybe he meant retire from UFC,
you seem to be mistaken. Arlovski actually "fought". kimbo couldnt even make it out of the gate.
No mistake here bro. I meant what I said. Any fighter can lose on any given day. Some lose by decision and some get knocked the ^^^^ out in the first few seconds.Remember the first St.Pierre VS Matt Serra??? I rest my case. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Is that not clear? Like I stated I am no fan of Kimbo but I respect him as a fighter. Anyone who gets in the cage or ring or octagon has my respect. I train BJJ at Big John McCarthy's and see how the MMA guys train and I have only big respect for them. nash you are a Martial Arts guy right? Where's the respect bro?
I respect true MMA guys but I don't respect Kimbo one bit. He gets way overhyped as an elite MMA fighter because he beat a couple of nobodies but he isn't. He isn't a martial arts guy, he is a street fighter that is in it for a big paycheck. He had EliteXC and CBS bent over a barrel when Shamrock got hurt. He might be doing some training but if he respected the sport, he would have taken the fight straight up and not held the company hostage for an extra bonus just to take the fight and save the card.

I do respect a lot of martial artists. However this is one big thing that some friends and I have discussed in the recent past.
People seem to forget that the term for "MMA" before it all got HUGE was "NHB" or No Holds Barred fighting. IMO the term MMA was put in place because now the sport has evolved and become more organized and streamlined. When it was NHB, it was basically guys off the street who thought they could fight, enter the ring and brawl each other until someone got messed up. This is what I place Kimbo Slice in....the NHB category. Imo he is NOT a martial artist and doesn't need to be a martial artist. So for anyone to call him so, I'd have to just disgustingly shake my head at that.
Kimbo is a big guy...his body structure is built like a tank...compact and bulky in which his target zone is pretty much obscured once he puts his hands up. He uses this to his advantage and also plays off of the intimidation factor a lot.
The reason Im laughing at Kimbo in this last fight is pretty ironic because the whole reason he is as popular as he is now is because of fighting guys off the street which gives us the impression that he knows nothing about them or how they fight to begin with. The same thing happened in this fight when Shamrock could not make the fight. He got signed up to fight someone who he knew nothing about, BUT he had to be compensated with a bonus signing extention just to take the fight only to end up with him being knocked out in the first 5 seconds of the fight.
It is clear to me that a lot of the guys Kimbo fought in the past on youtube etc were pretty much nobodies that were there for Kimbo to have target practice. If any of you have seen the fight with Gannon, Kimbo lost that fight but Kimbo's people made some BS excuses about Gannon breaking rules. What rules?! it's a street fight.
Going back to the MMA vs. Martial artist thing. Imo MMA is slowly but surely hurting the martial arts world. Why do you ask? Simply because MMA is turning Martial arts into more of a circus than a discipline. It's more of a sport than a discipline. Dont you ever notice that every Tom, ^^^^, and Harry on the street nowdays are wearing TapOut shirts or some MMA branded apparel? You look at these guys and it's clear as day that these chumps don't know a lick about fighting or self-defense, yet they feel like they are the ^^^^ because they can wear TapOut T-shirts and Affliction, etc.
To answer the last sentence in the quote above...Find me a real martial artist and I guarantee you i'd have some sort of respect for them. But if you're pointing at Kimbo slice, i don't think that he deserves that kind of respect.
