Well your jaw doesn't get any stronger. :lol Just saying, unless JDS (stupidly) shot for a take down I'm pretty confident his TDD is more than adequate to keep the fight standing and even with Werdum's improved MT/striking I think JDS would still have the advantage in that department.

if Werdum can make it a grueling grappling match, JDS will tire out and get subbed. I'm not impressed with anything JDS does these days. I think Werdum has improved a lot since then.

Ken almost had him. Should have had him, really. It was a better showing than most people thought he'd give. Still have to give my respect to the guy--I've known of him for 20+ years now. Was my first favorite fighter after UFC 3.

I didn't see the fight, so what do you mean? A RNC shouldn't take much strength at all as long as the technique is good.

Had Kimbo flattened and had the choke sunk in. He cranked it hard and Kimbo definitely thought about tapping. But he kept fighting and eventually Ken rolled onto his back, and Kimbo was able to turn to his side. They got up and Kimbo threw some bombs and ended the fight. But Ken had good position and had it locked in: just couldn't get it done. Too bad, really, since it would have been nice to have seen him go out on top.

interesting, yea, I'd like to see that part of it. That's like the ultimate position with a choke, to have a guy flattened out on his face. You can put a lot of pressure on a guys spine with that too.

I just don't think it was 100% clean, but it was close. Ken was giving up 30 pounds and Kimbo was still fresh, so those two factors made it tougher.

I'll just say that it was a respectable showing from a 51 year old guy with decades of wear who hadn't fought in 5 years.

He had him flattened out, his arm has under his neck clean, and he had it locked in...just didn't have enough squeeze to make him tap.

Two of those fights last night were REALLY suspect. Pitbull was KO'ed at the bell but allowed to continue even though he was still visibly wobbly!? Then the whole Kimbo/Shamrock thing. When you sink in a RNC with a traditional grip and your opponent starts grabbing at your hands to counter, you switch to a Gable/palm-to-palm grip. Shamrock apparently forgot that. Plus that entire show was a mess, production-wise. In particular, the segment with Coker was cringe worthy and looked like something you'd see at a low-level, wrestling event.

have you ever trained before? I wouldn't think just fans of the sport would even know what a gable grip is......unless you pay really close attention when Rogan explains positions during fights.
