I wanted to do this thread having watched Avatar for the second time tonight. I was watching it and this thread suddenly came to mind.

Giovanni Ribisi

I was watching his performance in Avatar again tonight and whilst subtle and a small part in comparison it was awesome.

Friends is one of my fave shows and i followed him since he was in that, i just think hes a really classy actor. I just think the guy deserves more plaudits! He is definately deserving of a main role big character now me thinks i would really love to see this happen.

Please post your suggestions, it would be really interesting to see what your thoughts are on underrated actors that deserve leading roles

Nathan Fillion. He should have more, higher-profile roles. He should've been Green Lantern, though he's a bit too old (not that I've got anything against Ryan Reynolds).

Cillian Murphy.

Joseph Gordon Levitt.

This man.

Ok so hes not been in much but what he has been in has been great UK cinema and 99% of people I know I could show a picture of and they wouldn't know who he was.
I still want a figure of this guy too.

His name is Paddy Considine and thsi clip is from a great movie called " Dead mans shoes ". Couldn't reccomend it enough.

Warning , strong language.

He reminds me of oldman actually.

Totally agree 100% I've loved him as an actor since we first saw him in Buffy. Now, I make it a point to watch everything he appears in...including the subpar White Noise 2--which he made watchable.

Yea, Gary Oldman is awesome and same with Karl Urban.

Hell yes. :lecture I've brainwashed everyone I know to like him as an actor though so I don't see him as underrated. :lol

Maybe not underrated but I don't feel or at least have not seen, this man get his rightful dues/props.......kinda hard to put into words.... as he should get.

Karl Urban's McCoy was truly brilliant -- he actually stood out in that movie, even above other great performances.

Honestly, I think Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt are among the most underrated (as actors ... they're certainly not underrated as celebrities) in the business. Both can play normal everyday roles (like McClane or Pitt's character in Oceans) ... and both can play oddball offbeat or deeper roles as well. Pitt was bizarre in 12 Monkeys, and fantastic in Fight Club and Seven. Loved Willis in Lucky Number Slevin (its about a Kansas City Shuffle ... VERY underrated movie) and The Sixth Sense.

Couldn't help this, but this man might be the ultimate underrated actor of all time :D....

Wow, crack is a helluva drug for some of you to be naming some of these actors....

Oldman is definitely underrated, because he should be a household name. He's one of the few people out there that actually make acting a form of art, though they all claim to do it.

Only other one is Sean Pertwee from "Dog Soldiers". Love that guy.

Tony Todd. I've never understood why he didn't get more high profile character work, instead of being relegated to ????ty D grade horror movies. He could act circles around Samuel L. Jackson.
