Little while ago. Lots of violence and blood and gore in this film. Saw an exclusive clip showing some of it, and yeah, it was pretty bloody.

There was a thread asking for Hot Toys to redo the Sideshow Universal Monsters. Rather than redo them, these remakes are an opportunity for Hot Toys to make revised monsters. The Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Yup, easy too. They could just pretty much reuse the predators and their dreads.

In any case, what I was suggesting was an alternative possibility for those looking, who are interested, not for those who are not. Something to perhaps look forward to. If it's not to your taste, it's your prerogative not to purchase one, should they make one.

I'd at least be more enthused and maybe more interested if they make the Wolfman. That's what the thread is really about, not the Creature of the Black Lagoon, and the new Wolfman would definitely be a purchase from me. Maybe not the Creature, as the original design is just so unique the new design may take a bit for me to warrant a purchase.

You haven't seen what Universal did to CFTBL? it's awful! As for updates, I had said a loooooooooong time ago in another thread that I think if HT did Oldman's Dracula, De Niro's Monster, etc., that it'd be great.

Thats how I feel too. I think this movie being " R " is a good thing.

I rather like the idea of the "R";after all, 'American Werewolf' was an "R", and it rocks. And since no one has answered my earlier trivia question,I'll spill it...Inspector Aberline was the REAL detective in charge of investigating the Whitechapel murders...PS

That's your opinion. Mine is that ramping up gore to satisfy that pathetic desensitized, puerile tastes of some "horror" fans is the real bull. That is what is insulting to me. I am far from a "tween", but don't need in-your-face, over-the-top splatter to be entertained. I have an imagination.

I do see your point, I really do. However, if you ask me, a horror film surrounding a man who turns into a wolf monster and goes about the village murdering other men like that of a wild animal is deserving of the R-rating. There is more than enough light horror out there for people with your tastes and opinions. Go watch Van Helsing if you'd prefer, but Johnson and del Toro were not interested in making anything less than what this film is promising to be: a scary, savage, bloody good time and tribute to the original film.

I'm hoping that rating is to keep it realistic meaning it's an R for language, violence and any potential nudity that'd naturally coincide with the story vs. a hard R because it's goreporn. Likely if the MPAA ratings had existed back then, the oldschool Universals would've been R as well. It also means we hopefully won't have to listen to any attendees comparing it to the tweenny Emofest that was New Moon.

Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stoker's Dracula are both R's and they are not heavy on the gore.
I bet the rating is because of some nudity like the Terminator Salvation Directors cut. I even bet it's a 15 or even a 12a in the UK

A tribute to the original? That is exactly what it is not, and that is exactly why I am so outraged about it. The original was a crafted in such a way that it was intelligent enough for adults, but still approachable for a younger audience. Thinking back on my own childhood, I can't imagine how much less fulfilling it would have been if I had been denied the opportunity to watch the classic Universal Monster films (which I first viewed at the tender age of 6 or 7). Those experiences shaped my horror tastes for the rest of my life. Today's young audience is being denied that opportunity with this new film.
