Ya, I think Sideshow kinda picks and chooses to show raw sculpts simply because some element of how it's made seems newsworthy to them.
An example, there was a lot of doubt about the ANH Han Solo and Sideshow has been VERY pleased with everything Trev's been accomplishing with Harrison's portrait as it seems like from illustration to sculpture, his portrait is regarded as one of the toughest to capture and he's been doing so well with it, they used it as a chance to calm people's fears with the Han figure and to show the incredible work Trev's done. Personally, I wish every piece SSC did had "bonus materials", I find the process of making a piece a reality as enjoyable as the pieces themselves, but as Evilface said, it's likely they figure most just want to see the final product they'll get in their hands and move on, so it's not worth going to far with the production insights.
