Is there any reason that we have been able to see unpainted head sculpts of certain figures and not of others? It seems that even after release some headsculpts are never shown. I'd lke to see a Luke, being that we have seen the Han.

A few privileged people have had to pleasure of seeing the unpainted Luke, but its up to the sculptor (and Sideshow, I assume) if it gets posted here.

Sometimes if you can find the sculptors' own personal webpage showing his resume of work you can see the unpainted headsculpts. So you have to do some research. I dont think Sideshow makes it a point to shown unpainted headsculpts unless they put them in a special "behind the scenes" feature like the production blog or something.

I don't think sideshow cares if someone sees a unfinished/unpainted sculpt, cause most don't care about it either, just the final product.

Ya, I think Sideshow kinda picks and chooses to show raw sculpts simply because some element of how it's made seems newsworthy to them.

An example, there was a lot of doubt about the ANH Han Solo and Sideshow has been VERY pleased with everything Trev's been accomplishing with Harrison's portrait as it seems like from illustration to sculpture, his portrait is regarded as one of the toughest to capture and he's been doing so well with it, they used it as a chance to calm people's fears with the Han figure and to show the incredible work Trev's done. Personally, I wish every piece SSC did had "bonus materials", I find the process of making a piece a reality as enjoyable as the pieces themselves, but as Evilface said, it's likely they figure most just want to see the final product they'll get in their hands and move on, so it's not worth going to far with the production insights.

bergholtz's website has a lot of unpainted sculpts. even some of the unapproved ones i think. hartvigson's page has a lot too if i remeber. sorry no links.
