Well done wake. Honestly the latest pics do look like they are straight from the art department from the movie! If I'm not mistaken, this is your first dio right? (I'm sure I read that somewhere)

Re: Patrick Bateman's Apartment - Wake's Dioramas

New update!

Finally received corrose's art work print but once I got it in hand I realized that even though its in proper 1:6 scale that its too big for my dio. I'm having him make me a new one a bout 25% smaller. I think it will look better.

Re: Patrick Bateman's Apartment - Wake's Dioramas

You've put some serious creative energy and execution into this brother - outstanding! :rock I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but this is a museum grade, miniature - pure class. Can't wait to see it with the figure.

:clap:clap:clap:clap

Wow, it is unreal! Superb dio, you can make magic ;)

Thanks gents! Much appreciated!

It is my first diorama that I've actually built myself! Although Ive been working with Rob The Reverend on many dios over years and I always contributed ideas on how to execute certain things on a purely theoretical level. lol. No practical exerience till i start building this two months ago! I appreciate the kind words!

This thread has been blessed! :yess:

Hahaha. For real! Im telling you, whenever Seb likes something... it must be good right?

Oooooooooh shhhhhheeeeeiiiiit! Looks phenomenal :clap. Great work!

Thank you!

The thing i set out to accomplish was 'museum-quality' and its taken a lot longer to execute because of that. For instance I couldve just nailed or glued the walls but instead i routed tongue and groove joints. That meant I had to build the shell twice. The first time as a practice run. I also couldve taken some short cuts with the floor and the tiles and such but ultimately I wanted something that I could be proud of! Because its my first Dio i had to buy all the tools and equipment... so yeah that was expensive... but I'll always have the equipment and I can make countless dios... so really the expendable materials are the only true expense. Maybe $350? Lighting modules, LED Banks, acryclic cut-to-size, printed vinyl artwork, the barbie entertainment set, the photo backdrop had to be printed, the wood veneer for the floor, the styrene and basswood, the MDF for the structure, paint, paint brushes, lots of vinyl and latex gloves, paper towels galore LOL... it adds up. PLUS the furniture....

BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT ONCE PATRICK IS IN HIS APARTMENT!

Re: Patrick Bateman's Apartment - Wake's Dioramas

Don't think I have posted in here yet, but I've been reading the thread since day one with great interest. :)
Your work is truly amazing and inspiring, I love all the details you are putting in! I can't wait to see it all finished in the end.

I probably missed it, but what figure will you be putting in the dio at the end? I think it would actually look best to have Bateman just standing in there in his boxers and with the cooling mask on, like this:

Either way, it's going to look fantastic. :)

I AM ALSO getting the Creg Customs Smiling Bateman sculpt. I'm also independantly puting together a white boxers/white t-shirt outfit so i can also recreate some other scenes like the "Pumpkin, you're dating an *******!" moment.

REALLY WISH I COULD FIND A 1/6 Gel Mask!

Surely one of the many talented boardies would be able to take a commission for a gel mask. And now that you have your ties with Nathan, I could imagine he would knock the paint out of the park to make it look like a real gel mask. :)

I don't know why, but I feel Bateman in a suit doesn't fit this diorama, it would be too "serious". The maniacal face with the plastic raincoat will look awesome though.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the interest in the project! The furniture question is a two part answer. The chair frames are from a fashion royalty playscale doll manufacturer. But I had a customized make me the Faux black leather cushions.

Re: Patrick Bateman's Apartment - Wake's Dioramas

Time for a new update! Spent the last four evenings making the Venetian blinds. They look pretty good and can be opened!
