Hmm, sounds like I may be joining D23 for the 40th anniversary of WDW. How does the scavenger hunt work? What's it like?
The one for Disneyland covered Four zones: Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, Hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel, Grand Californian Hotel).
There was a book of 330 questions total, some sections had more questions than others.
There are three types of questions:
1 point questions: Simple observational, counting, color identifying, etc. An example would be "What are the last two words on the Tomorrowland Dedication plaque?"
5 point questions: These wouldn't be harder but would take longer to solve. A general one would require you to visit 3 eateries and add up the total of specific food items.
10 point questions: These were usually the most time consuming and would require you to run all over the place or decipher a puzzle.
Example: Go to Aladdin's Oasis in Adventureland. Find the animal on the sign (it's a peacock). Find the attraction that features this animal on a throne (snow white's scary adventures). There is an animal on the throne (raven). Find the attraction that features many of this animal watching you as you ride (haunted mansion). What color is the vehicle parked outside of this attraction? (white)
That's an example of a 10pointer... but one of the few that my team was able to figure out without going to any of those locations. 1 teammate knew that there was a peacock on the signage of Aladdin. Having gone on Snow White the night before, I knew it was Snow White that had a throne and the Raven was on it. We all figured that it was Haunted Mansion with all the ravens and then knew that the hearse outside was white (it's black in florida).
We had a game time of 9am-2pm and if you turned it in late, you would earn negative points for every minute you were late.
