WARNING - Hasbro 14" Electronic Darth Vader

this is why i DONT use these suits anymore, some have been fine and last no problem but others even bought NIB have virtually fallen apart once opened.

Glad you chimed in here, Glenn. Do you recommend anything to treat the pleather to help it last? Armor-All or anything? You know I have your Vader from 2004 and it seems to be holding fine, although I haven't really tried to play around with it in a long time. Now I'm a little worried.

Ok, posted this in a simular discussion on mediworld about the fall-apart pleaether. I asked my sister about it, ( she's a fashion Design student, frmerly NYU, Formerly SCAD, now at somewhere in LA, Anywho) It comes down to a combination of a few things as to how long it will last. the first, and most important part is how thick the plastic was painted on to the undersuit. if it's too thin it woill fall apart. If it's too thick, excessive moving and folding of the fabric ( places like knees, elbows, hips, shoulders, anywhere there is torshion) Will crack and tear first, then start to flake off, and the rest will slowly come apart from those holes.
If, IF they get the layer JUST right it should hold up fairly well. But even then, this material is very cheap stuff. Just food for thought.

I made some changes to my Vader today and the pleather or whatever on his legs is coming off... oh well

Maybe one of these days I'll get adventurous and swap that suit with the one from my ROTS ultimate villain.

The same happened to my piece. Air is extremely humid in my part of the world, that could be the cause.

I wonder, would applying leather protection cream have prevented the peeling off.

Well my VOTC Fett is Fading in a strange way (not that it has been displayed in direct sunlight) The suit has all faded to grey while all the pockets are all blue ( not that I need this figure any more) . But any way last time I checked my Vader looked fine

I wanted to share something with my fellow collectors who may own this piece, the 14" Electronic Talking Hasbro Darth Vader with the 3 piece reveal helmet. I was cleaning up today and took mine out of the container it's in to check it out and part of his "pleather" body suit felt stick, I touched it a bit more and it pealed away. Apparently, it's not even pleather, it's cloth with pleathery stuff like painted on. So if you own this piece and want to take care of it, take note, and I imagine Vader's using a similar piece will be this way too, which includes the Darth Vader - Darth Maul Sith Lords 2-Pack Vader.

Thanks for the warning! Mine still seems to be in good shape, but I need to dust the ole 12' shelf this weekend. I'll let you know what's left.
