The bright side to this is at the end of the day, despite the 20% paycut, you're still employed unlike thousands of other Americans ATM. :huh I have several friends who are being bullied around by EDD who is looking for any and every opportunity NOT to pay them unemployment, something we pay for with every paycheck we get, due to our (California's) current financial crisis. People are so desperate for work that parents are actually ambushing teen job fairs trying to find work.

Hang in there, Kuzeh. Natural selection is testing us all right now. And we strong will make it through. Don't be afraid to take a second job at Bob's Septic Pumping Services or Burger-Burner if you need to. I've been there. And don't be afraid to re-invent yourself if it comes to that either. There are still professions out there that pay well enough to help weather these tough times and need people. Fight through it and I am willing to bet that the time is not that far off that things will get better for us all.

Thanks for all the support guys...
As I said, we're fortunate to have a roof over our heads and food, and even a little bit of money to support this crazy hobby of mine...
I guess I'm just saddened and frustrated by the constant uphill battle we've been dealing with for the past 2 years... I'd love to give my wife more, she deserves it...

Hey man I dont know if you ever thought of puttin on a uniform and serving the country. Challenging job yes, maybe not the wifes cup o' tea either, but it solves 99% of the problems you listed in your original post. I've been doin it for 11 years and as far as the American Dream you are referring to goes, it dont get no realer than this.

I love the USA, and I'm grateful for all the opportunities it has given me, being a foreigner and all that, but now way in hell would I jeopardize my principles that way...
I mean... I have great respect for the men and women who decide to put their ass on the line, but I'd absolutely hate to be an active part of the U.S. foreign policies...
Besides, I'm too old and out of shape for it!! :lol

I'm not a quitter, so I'll keep fighting 'till the end,
too bad my options are a bit limited due to my working visa... I can't start my own business, and I can't work in other fields... that's what happens when you do things legally... :lol

Oh well,
thanks again everyone for the support...

You deserve a hug from Darklord Dave at comic con. His hugs are the best :)

Hang in there, Kuzeh! Life's full of ups and downs (sometimes more downs than ups).

My wife and I both work for the same company and we had layoffs earlier this year. Luckily, we survived the cuts, but it did scare us enough to the point that we're considering transferring within the company to a larger city because where we are now, they're pretty much the biggest employer in a town of 30,000.

But here's the real question, will they ever give you back that 20%? I don't think so. You may have to find a new job at the end of all this anyway unfortunately.
