Your washer is probably not film accurate.

I've fixed my own washer and dryer once each. The washer was the worn out piece that hold and stabilize the drum at the bottom. Replaced it and its fine. The dryer, I had to replace the belt.

If yours issue is the motor you can try a used one if you're near a washer/dryer repair place.

yeah I goofed off with the switch with no result. Sigh... I guess I have to go out and buy a motor. Thanks for the help.

I would try and see if you can replace switch first. Might be a cheap test to see if you need a motor. Or if you have a volt meter see if you see any kind of voltage change when you activate /deactivate the switch.

Maybe the switch died...it's pretty common, and they are really inexpensive to replace. I'd look at that as a possibility before you go and dish out a crazy amount for a new motor.
