On an aside, I loved the look of the Rorschach prop from DC Direct but felt that the retail price of $295.00 was a little high......well Wizard Universe has it on sale for $149.99 which is a fair price.....

In a way it almost makes you feel sorry for him even after doing what he did.

It's funny because I've ALWAYS felt sorry for Veidt - even reading issue 12 on release when I was 13.

That single panel with the tears rolling down his face and he's happy, awestruck and horried all at the same time.

Brilliant.

Loved the movie, seen it twice this weekend will no doubt see it once more in the next week (Gotta pay the dues...).

My only real problems are :-

1. The music cues are terrible and jarring
2. Should have cast someone younger for Blake in 1940
3. The unsubtlety with which the Minutemen are handled.

I'm holding out hope for the director's cut. Maybe we're missing some transitions and breathing space.

Not for me. :)

I have no doubt the director's cut will be a huge improvement, bringing it that much closer to the novel, but I can still enjoy the theatrical cut for what it is.

Saw it yesterday in IMAX
it was amazing, despite the changes... some people complained about it being too long
I actually felt it was a little rush...
Bad music...
but great characters and effects!
:rock!!

Saw it today,it was OK.What i strongly disliked about the movie was the choice of music, sure 99 luftballons and the other songs are great classics, but c`mon put it in a serious movie like this...:duh:duh:duh

That was the mentality of the EW reviewer, who said about young punk rockers should have been turned loose on the classics, rather than just using the classic music, and my distaste for pop and punk music won't allow me to even consider that option. 99 luftballoons aside, I loved the songs and found their placement well-orchestrated.

I was pretty disappointed with watchmen, I never read the book but the trailers for this made it look like the movie was going to be amazing, and IMO it was just ok, Rorschach was awesome though

Or because thats how its being interpreted...? Honestly....

"Blah blah not a character piece, you'll learn in film school!1"

Seems like a put down to me...

It's not, and you will. Have the humility to realize that at 17 you're not exactly a master of context and cinematic history yet. There's nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't expect you to be a surgeon at 17 even if you were really really really interested in ER. If they expected you to know all this stuff as a kid, they wouldn't teach it in film school in the first place.

Now go watch Apocalypse Now so you get the Flight of the Valkyries joke, and accept that there's probably a reason people versed in film don't rate Zack Snyder as a director. :)

I have my problems with the film as well. You think I think its the most perfect thing in existence? Or that Zack is god? "^^^^ no."

No, Zack is a great visual director. He needs work obviously, and he'll learn in time.

Just like all directors. Improve with time. Like me...or any other aspireing filmmaker.

And the Ride of the Valkyries joke is also a part of the Watchmen story as well....

I'm sorry. Was Luftballoons not playing on the radio in the GN ? Was it not a song about the possibility of nuclear extermination by a German band when there was still an Iron Curtain, an East and West Berlin, a Russian Bear and a cold war?

I've noticed that lack of comprehension rarely even slows the rush to voice an opinion.

In a different context. When you see Apocalypse Now you'll realize what's happening there.

One of the most over rated movies ever IMO. I have watched it several times to try to get why it is held in such high regard. Just don't get it. :dunno
