Re: The Righteous Bison

This Raygun will be mine, it is beautiful! :rock

It sure is, best looking one yet. I love the hand guard & the rocketeer-like fin at the back - but plastic... Still, the others were out of my price range so this one is VERY tempting.

At $90 (SDCC Pre-Order price) this is a STEAL!! I don't care if it's plastic.

So... I'm not seeing much RayGun love in the pics from SDCC, anyone got some pics of this little beauty?

Uh, which little beauty? The Bison? I'll have to look.

Not loving the plastic. I got to hold it, and it seemed like it weighed less than my mini FMOM. The metal guns just look different, more substantial, I can't put it any other way.

The Bison is going to be open edition, no fancy presentation case either, Weta says they want to keep the price down. There will be a stand, but as a separate purchase, again, to keep the price down for people that just want the gun. I imagine the Bison will be a favorite with the live action steampunk people.

There was LOTS of ray gun news at the SDCC besides the Bison. I saw a mini Mongoose with a SRP of $40, and a mini Pearce 75 (might have the name wrong, there's a pic of it in the Dingus Directory), no SRP yet. Unless I am completely mistaken they also had a full size Pearce. The Mongoose is coming out first, this fall, they may have been taking pre orders for it, but the (relative lack of) detailing and the extremely teeny size didn't overcome the lesser price for me. The mini 75 is gorgeous, bright aluminum with red stripes, no release info on that one (G.Broadmore said they were still working out details). Might have to get that one.

FINALLY, Weta was displaying some trophy heads taken by Lord Cockswain on Venus. Insanely cool, price was "TBD" but surely out of my range. They had 3 massive heads, and 3 much smaller animals (maybe insects, I'm not really up on Venusian xenobiology) on display.

Let me get the pix off the camera and I will post some.

You simply MUST check out our "Booth Tour" gallery! (nearly 30 pics)

Here's just a sampling!

Mini Mongoose now available for pre-order: https://www.wetanz.com/victorious-mongoose-miniature-version

Like I said when I saw it at SDCC, asking price is a bit too much for size and detailing on this one-- it was US$40 at SDCC, and online they want US$49 for it. That's half the price of the mini Selector but WAY less than half the gun. Last year's mini, the baby Goliathon, is still available, I think the mini Mongoose will be around next year as well.

I'm not a completist, and I will be picky about which minis I will purchase. I am completely happy with the mini FMOM and my mini Selector. Coming up, the Mini Pearce, that looks good, have to see what they want for it.

so the Creature heads will actually be produced & sold?
... and will the full size Pearce be plastic as well?

I didn't really talk to anybody at Weta about the heads. They did have stickers that read "Price:TBD" on them. Not sure if they are one-offs, like the painted rayguns, or something they will put into production. I think Weta was on a fishing trip with the heads, they brought them out to see what the reaction was like. They are so detailed I really can't see an ES of more than 50.

The full size Pearce 75 (and the mini Pearce) were both metal.

The only plastic gun is the Bison.

Weta produced the busts for an art exhibit originally, and they brought them to Con to gauge interest. They were made of a foam filled latex, and probably would have to be in production as well (polystone might just tear your wall down); I spent much of the Con drooling over them! :drool

Just had a look at the Weta site RE: The Righteous Bison & noticed the "Availability" had changed from September/October to Q4 2009...

Pushed back a bit? Really hanging out for this one.

Had a look at the Weta forums but the thread is two months dead... Anyone know anything?

Got an email earlier today regarding the Righteous Bison:

Hello,

Our latest shipment of Doctor Grordbort's merchandise is scheduled to arrive at our UK and NZ warehouses toward the end of October!

We anticipate processing and dispatching your pre-order in early November, so not long to go now!

Thank you for your patience, and I hope the wait proves worthwhile!

Kind regards,
Darren

Awesome news! Can't wait.

I have Bison on order as well, but I am Stateside; so I would imagine it will take longer.

I did however just get my first "real" Raygun, the Goliathon 83 and I couldn't be happier with it. :rock
