Nice! I'll be curious to see what they do with the character line. It has some potential to be really cool especially if they go with your idea of mini dios. I would get a few of them for sure.

I hope they do a Mount Doom environment or a Lothlorien next

I would hope that their future enviroments are better priced than the recently released Prancing Pony. But considering that it sold out, I don't see that happening. It's the piece that made me a non-completist with the line. :(

I wouldn't expect much of a change as I've said before the market has gone up. Same great work as before but now you just pay a bit more.

Actually, I ended up not paying a bit more. I skipped it, all together.

Just not worth $200+ to me. But I easily have spent 3 times that amount on Hot Toys figures in the last month. Go figure. I guess it's matter of one's perception of value. I was looking forward to this environment (Prancing Pony) but first the price and then the tiny size turned me off completely.

It's time for another update on Weta's upcoming Rivendell environment from The Lord Of The Rings.

While Weta were making our way through the final sign-offs and the setup at the factory, a few of the crew were sitting around thinking it might be a good idea to figure out exactly what's gone into the making of this amazing miniature.

Should be a great piece.

While I think this will be an amazing piece...I think it will be too big and too expensive for my budget...

You know, when this project was first announced I figured it would be priced somewhere in range $500-600 range, but I'm starting to think that was wishful thinking. As terrific as this project is shaping up to be, I just hope Weta doesn't price it in such a way as to eliminate a large portion of potential buyers. Weta's already proven with the John Howe line that no matter how good something looks if it's overpriced, it won't sell. And it would be a shame if these end up sitting in a warehouse somewhere instead of in the homes of appreciative collectors where they belong. :lecture

I hope it's only 500 dollars. If it's much more than that I'd have really think about buying it or not. It'd be the first environment (other than Orthanc) that I don't own.

There is NO WAY this will be under $500...seeing as how the other environments were pushing the $300-$400 limit already...and the fact that this will be like 3 times the size of any of those...I am thinking realistically...$800-$1000. However, I also think that edition size will be LOW, like 500...

After charging $200 for the Prancing Pony, a very small environment in which most of the prod. costs involved were incurred 8-10 years ago, there is no way on the face of the earth Rivendell will be priced anywhere near the $500 range. I'd say Geb's prediction of $800-1000 is, unfortunately, right on the money. I think the only '500' number we'll see attached to this environment will be in the ES :(

That would be a real shame if it costs that.
As you said earlier woodsy that kind of price tag would definately hinder a lot of collectors buying it, myself included.

Obviously, this is all speculation at the moment Shell as Weta has wisely chosen to hold off in giving us any financially details until they can present the final product, but I think they have already forewarned us somewhat with this statement:

"Firstly, it's insanely intricate, which demands a certain size in order for that detail to be done justice, but make it too big and it becomes more and more expensive. Make it too small and it becomes a question of whether it's even worth doing as all that detail becomes lost and indiscernible. The feedback from folks on the collecting forums seems to suggest that most collectors share our view that Rivendell is something special and that, given its iconic status and beauty on screen, the collectible deserves to be treated as something special too."

And I don't think mentioning just how much work and detail went into this project and how many people were involved is going to ease the minds of those hoping this is going to be somewhat reasonably priced.
