Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (Yeoman Rand finished)

Agreed on Uniforms. The only thing I didn't like about Nanjin's was the boots. They were extremely fragile - two of mine broke moving them to different bodies. Call me old school, but I like sculpted boots :). However, the tunics and pants were A++. The trick was that I think he based his off the original plans, which are still available at Roddenberry.com. He also spent a lot of time getting the right fabric, I remember him telling me how he went all over the place getting the best stuff he could find. It would be a monumental task to do better, but since his stuff is so rare, anything you guys can do would be appreciated :).

Wow, glad mine never did that. I was actually surprised how well they held up during the switches.

Oh, and if they don't come in too expensive I'm in for at least 1 phaser rifle.

My boots never broke either and I've swapped them to several different bodies (in fact I just ported all 3 over to new bodies and will be using the WGP heads on them for improved likenesses). The trick is to slide the feet up past the heel of the boots without pulling on the heel, that is were the break can happen.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (Yeoman Rand finished)

Hey gang,
We need your help with something if anyone can help.

First, we need the original Captains Chair dimensions so we can convert that to accurate 1:6 dimensions if anyone knows where to find them.

Second, we just wanted to confirm because I don't actually remember it moving, can Kirks chair swivel? I swear I only remember it stationary but obviously I want to double check so it is correct. Thanks! :)

It did swivel.
McCoy famously whipped Spock around to face him when they were arguing about something.

Actually, I still do need the captains chair dimensions if someone has them. Thank you!

Pedestal diameter: 57 cm, 9.5 cm
Pedestal base diameter: 64 cm, 10.6 cm

These are based off the plans in the Star Fleet Technical Manual, and I believe them to be fairly accurate. Sorry that they're metric, but that's the format the Manual uses, and I was willing to work to that standard to build my own chair from scratch. If my numbers help the forum at large, so much the better. Any overt show of gratitude for my time and effort would not be un-appreciatted(subtle hint)...PS

I trust last night's efforts were helpful.I did do up drawings for myself, though they aren't complete;had a little difficulty with the arm section of the chair itself. My research revealed that the basic"seat" portion was a commercially available office chair from 1964 known as a "Madison Office chair".Said chairs are now very collectible, regardless of the Trek connection.Anyway, I can try scanning my drawings if it will help...PS

If you need I can send you the actual prints?
The plans I believe are in 1:6 already.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (Yeoman Rand finished)

Here are pics of the 1/6 chair I recently snagged on ebay. The two-piece casting allows for the chair to be able to swivel.

Re: WGP's Classic Star Trek (Yeoman Rand finished)

Wow, that chair is sweet, Jiminy. Thanks for sharing!

Since this seems like a good time to update on our chair status, Sean has the designs made, but when he checked into just getting it printed and it was close to $1,000! :horror

So we're still doing it but we want to wait until the interest list grows a little more from the seven interested it currently has before doing it.
