Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

Looking good,

Just out of interest, who cast the head Pete has? That hat looks good.

Whatever, I'm managing to keep myself occupied and will await updates.

For those that want updates, if you're subscribed to the thread, you'll get notification emails (SSF is one of the few sites which still does this.) which show the content of any reply to it. If you get one for this thread that says "They're ready folks!" then head on over here and share the joy.

There's no real point in spamming threads with "Any updates!?" posts as they just show up in inboxes and get people excited and then groaning when they find it's another "Any updates!?" post.

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

I tho that was the point of this sculpt :dunno
At least the chosen expression reference has it.

Nope, here is the sculpt unpainted. Clearly a serious expression.

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

Saying "nope" and showing one frontal pic w/o a proper light isn't helping :lol
Sculpt always had slight smirking on the left side.

Agree to disagree, I've always seen the raw sculpt as having a serious expression. But you see what you see, can't argue with that!

And apparently I'm not alone.

yeah- kinda does doesn't it! I think its the shadow on his right side along with his crooked mouth making it seem that way!

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

Hi guys, don't let that a poor painting, the first one that we see in this sculpt, discourage you guys to buy this sculpt.
In my opinion the sculpt is the best Indiana up to date, sadly this picture don't pay justice to the real sculpt quality...
Just my opinion,of course...

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

I don't think the paint is bad, and I still think the sculpt looks great! I was just commenting on how the paint seemed to change the expression some. :duff

Its was cast by Darmol but was one of the rejects so i fixed it so i can practice on it. When i get to paint a nice crisp cast it will look a lot better.

The smirk is not there its just the shape of his upper lip and the lighting.
It was just a quick wip pic i sent to Sean to show him progress.

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

I can wait for this, I've got a batch brewing!!!

BRING DA PAIN Pete, BRINGGGGGGGGGGG US HOME!!!!

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

I don't think is a bad paint, but is not the kind of painting that makes shining an sculpt....please,nobody feel ofended,is not that i mean....
the strong points of this sculpt are still there, wait to see something from Nathan for example...

That's cool, I thought it might have been something you'd cast yourself. Smirk or not you did a great job.

LOL, sounds like you need some Pepto Bismol to ease that pain. Just having the sculpt in hand will ease mine. Once I've seen the latest one and I'm happy, I'll lay the green and wait for my head to be seen.

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

Here is a WIP of our painter Peteskywalker paint-up of the regular Indy head - more professional pics will be posted up later

If this is the finished paint job it doesn't quite do the sculpt justice. Not enough variation in the skin, eyes are too white, iris slightly too small and colour wrong/dark. Also the eyebrows and beard look too heavy. I think with these tweaks we will see something much improved.

Thanks Ski, I think I understand what you mean :rotfl

Thanks mate :) And don’t worry the cast for these will be awesome. I have been working on casters and we found a new company who can cast the hat in polyurethane. It’s the same stuff used for skateboard wheels so all the set backs we can get from resin will be gone.

As Sean said it’s a WIP (Work In Progress) and in bad lighting finished pics will follow.

Also it’s worth noting this is a just an example for customers who want to buy sculpts painted showing what we can offer. There are plenty of painters on this forum with varying level of skill and for that reason varying price points. Please keep that in mind when judging my work :peace

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

Sorry, still think its a good paint job. I tend to go overboard on the crits ;)

Re: WGP's RAIDERS Jones- at casters now!

I have sent some casts of the reg Indy and a few smiling to Sean... The hats are just the biggest nightmare and I have made 4 different types of mould and cast up over 25 hats but still can not get ones that I feel are good enough so another mould maker is going to have a go..... Folks are being so patient and every one is doing their best to get you guys great Indy heads..... I know I love em!!!
