I think we all perceive people and faces differently depending on a number of different factors, some people recognize a face from the eyes, some people by the general shape of the face etc, Facial recognition by Chinese often begins with a focus on the center of the face in the nose area, as compared to Westerners who tend to concentrate attention on a triangular area between the eyes and mouth. These all contribute to how we individually see faces differently.
This is why one person can look at a sculpt and see the best likeness ever, while another person finds it difficult to see any resemblance at all - no one person is wrong, it's just a matter of perception
