Another cool song. Especially from the 3 minute mark.

Great prog metal!

Have you ever listened to any Symphonic Metal?

Epica is one of my favorite metal bands. Here are 2 songs by them I really love. "Never Enough" is pretty radio friendly, but it's balanced out well with "Chasing the Dragon."

Listen to them both and in this order (they are back to back in this order on the album):

This first one is quite a journey...

Valfar, you and I have very similar tastes in music.

"Land of the Dead" is my favorite song on Oath Bound. This time I won't claim I have all their albums, but I do have 4 of them. Are you familiar with Dol Guldur?

Here is my favorite song on that album and possibly my favorite Summoning song. Could almost fit in the "Songs to Die By" thread. Kind of puts you in a trance:

I actually had correspondence with Richard Lederer (Protector) for a while. He turned me on to his side project Ice Ages. Totally different then Summoning but I think you would like it as well.

Will post a link...

P.S. What's with Bodie's post? Inside joke?

This whole album is really outstanding. A bit hard to find as it is out of print. But you can find it for download here and there. PM if you want to know where I got it.

Hard to believe this is one of the vocalists from Summoning: Richard Lederer.

My favorite Summoning album is "Let Mortal Hero's Sing Your Fame." It kind of bridges the gap between Black Metal and Darkwave a bit.

Even a bigger suprise from Richard Lederer is Die Verbannten Kinder Evas his Neoclassical Darkwave project. Even cleaner vocals. Both him and a female. Sadly some of the vocal performances are a bit dodgy, but worth checking out.

Here is one of the better Die Verbannten Kinder Evas songs.

"Dusk and Void Became Alive" is their best album IMO.

I am not really feeling that Ice Ages track, its alright-ish..i will have to listen to more later. My favorite Summoning songs are these two below, and do you like Dargaard at all?, i believe they are a side project of one of the members(Tharen) from Abigor(Austrian as well)..i have listened to Dargaard for years now.

Definitely give it a longer try. (The track I posted kind of builds, percussion doesn't come in for about a minute.) There are several of their songs on youtube. With your interest in darkwave coupled with stuff like Wumpskut and VNV, I was sure you would like Ice Ages. :dunno

Haven't heard them yet but if their on Napalm Records they gotta be good! :rock

Will check them out. Do you recommend any album in particular?

I also like some aggrotech music, Dawn of Ashes-Hocico etc..

Only two best albums for Dargaard are..

Eternity Rites and In Nomine Aeternitatis

Most of the songs are in old latin and the rest are english vocals, both female and male(mostly female though), they would be considered neo-classical darkwave.

Thats pretty good stuff. I will check them out. I haven't listened to much "symphonic metal". I used to listen to a little speed and power metal but then the double bass drumming just got too much for me and it all sounded the same. What you posted is not that at all.

Here is something maybe a little similar I remember from about 10 or 15years ago.
