I guess for me I have never listened to a particular kind of music because of the "image" or "scene" associated with it, so I don't put any restrictions on what I listen to for fear that the guys I'm posing with will disapprove.


I know you hate

Open minded people.

but it really is a freeing experience to let go of the need to cling to certain genres and even go so far as to say: 'I don't personally care for that style of music, but I can see that it has value and that people who enjoy it are not mindless of stupid.'

And with practice you might even find that you learn to like music you previously didn't.

It's just like food. When you are a toddler you are quite picky, but as you get older your tastes broaden.


Before you reply, I know that you are going to give evidence for how broad your tastes are, and that the masses are the ones that need to broaden out. But then you're missing the point. Forget about other people. Especially when it comes to judging them.

This is true, i must say and it works vice versa as well.

Some Bruce Springsteen songs of old really bring me up when i am out on the town, always liked his older work since i kid.

but can we please stop talking about Owl City?

If I had mentioned them 6 months ago, no one would have even known who I was talking about.

I like 'em. It's catchy and well done. Adam makes the music he wants to make. He made it independently and it was only a matter of time before the mainstream discovered it. I'm not going to stop liking it now just because people have heard it overplayed on the radio and pretentious youtubers make fun of him.
