Amazing that this guy could write these two songs, which are so good, and are both done with so much conviction, just a few years apart.

Before this, he is in a band whose objective was to be the fastest band in the world. Then later, he become a writer for professional wrestling, writes the theme to the Daily Show, and makes electronic dance music.

Charles Mingus Quintet: A Foggy Day

This is a rare album, in that the two artists highlighted on the cover (Mingus and Max Roach) constitute the rhythm section.

By any standards The Pixies are still a great band and currently touring.

I've intentionally stayed away from their newer stuff. Maybe I should give it a listen, but I don't want it to affect my feelings toward all the brilliant music they made back in the '80s and early '90s. When Steely Dan came back after a 20 year hiatus, it wasn't pretty to my ears. And it would have been better if I just never knew about it.

To be honest I haven't listened to anything new, still a big fan of what I grew up with. Same for Billy Idol, although I've listened to newer material it just never compares to what I grew up on.

Predictably given that it just turned up today the latest Bowie boxset - ANCIANT. The albums/music itself is brilliant, and recommended to anyone.

The boxset? Not so much. Even ignoring the error (and despite Parlophone's claims, it can't have been on purpose) on arguably the key track (the song Heroes suffers from a noticeable volume fluctuation...), the whole thing sounds like a poor MP3 copy to my ears a lot of detail is just... Missing on this thing.
