That was a pretty dark episode for a Fantastic 4 homage.

Yeah, it was. I'm having a blast watching these episodes again, especially ones like Heroes. I haven't watched Batman Beyond in years, and I'd forgotten how mature and dark some of the stories were on the show. Plus, I love all the character designs and seeing who they got to do voices for the show. I would gladly buy figures of just about every character on Batman Beyond.

There's something unspoken that even Bruce Timm admitted that makes BB unintentionally much darker than BTAS. I think it's mostly the oppressive atmosphere and the themes of technology corrupting people. The designs are just fantastic and so is the music, which usually isn't my cup of tea but it suits this world so well.

I guess my favorite episode has to be anything with the Royal Flush Gang, I love Ten. :lol

The first Royal Flush Gang episode is the next one up. I'm starting to remember more as I watch so I'm anticipating getting to some of the cooler episodes. Another one I can't wait to get to is the one with all the characters with psychic powers. I think it's in the second season though so I have a ways to go yet.

Oh that does it, I think I need to rewatch the show this week- I need a refresher course!

Like any DCAU show, there are quite a few guest voices that you might not expect, including Linda Hamilton and Kurtwood Smith(!) Your best bet is to freeze frame the end credits, you'll never know who might be in it. :lol

:lol That's what I've been doing with every episode. I'd completely forgotten that Linda Hamilton was Dr. Lake in the Mr. Freeze episode until I heard her voice again.

Oooh I LOVE that episode! There's something about the Melanie/Terry relationship that I gravitate more to than Bruce/Selina.

Just finished it. Such a great episode. Makes me wish they'd continued the series to explore Melanie/Terry further and gone into more detail about Bruce and Selina in their later years. That last line from Bruce kills me. Another crazy voice I'd forgotten was George Lazenby as King.

The episode has such great music too, like the part where Terry uses the computer to search for Melanie. She makes a few more appearances later on, and gets her own closure later. She's probably my favorite DCAU female character simply because how conflicted she is.

As for Selina, she was mentioned by Terry in JLU that she left Bruce long after learning his identity simply because he just can't settle down and was insufferable in his elder years. Probably the same reason why Wonder Woman or anyone else left him as well. Didn't Bruce himself admitted he "stepped over" every single woman in his life?

I do remember something like that with Selina. It would have been interesting to see more story about how much they really tried to make it work.

I remember seeing that the first time and had to compose myself seeing Bane in such a depressing state. Wow.

I love how they incorporated some of Batman's villains in the show. Bane is an instance in which his outcome makes perfect sense when you see it but is still shocking.
