HELLBOY for probably like the 50th time. I love that movie!! :rock :rock

:rock
you know I didnt really like it the first viewing.
I was so bummed Mignola's style wasnt realy translated to the screen as much as Id hoped.
once I got over that its def one of the best.

Ive also noticed that while many old 80's movies become unwatchable, those movies I shouldve left to memory rather than revisit them as an adult. The realy old B&W classics only get better and better, like an aging fine wine.... :monkey1

Pacino is such an awesome actor.

My two favorite Pacino movies, he just delivers such great performances, and HEAT with him and DeNiro going to head rocks too.

And Justice For All, Dick Tracy & Godfather were probably his best performances................Other than Scarface I LOVED Donnie Brasco!

Rumor has it that Carlito's Way was what life would have been like if Tony Montana never died at the end of Scarface.

I could never see that, Tony Montana and Carlito Brigante are so totally different. Tony dies because that is the natural outcome for his personality, full speed all the way until he burns out and someone takes him out at his weakest point. Carlito is a soulful man that got caught up in the lifestyle of his neighborhood, but prison left him with only himself and the good man within came out, only it weakened his street sense and being only able to stay within the same lifetsyle and neighborhoods he came from, he no longer had the tools to servive within it.

Totally agree. But this is how you were suppose to look at it, he lives and trys to change his ways while trying to find Gail (Elvira) after she left him.

Again its just a rumor of how things would have turned out if he had lived. If it was DePalma's intention I think he changed the characters enough to hide any suspicion to the die hard fan.

Have you seen the Carlito's Way Ultimate Edition DVD? DePalma talks about when Breggman approached him about doing the film, and he almost turned it down because at first glance, he thought it would be another Scarface and he wanted no part of going back to that, they talked more, he read into the character and saw it was a significantly different character and story and he got on board.

No I haven't seen much in the way of special features for this film. I know DePalma, I know how artistic he is and how important each film he makes is. I need to get a new edition of Carlito's Way, when I first saw it in theatres it was an instant classic for me!

As for Carlito's Way II, i've never seen it and don't plan to anytime soon. I mean, why? Straight to DVD if i'm not mistaken.

Anyway Pacino, Scorsese, DeNiro, Pesci, Liota, DePalma, and Coppola rock!

It's actualy a Prequel about his life prior to prison and reform, but yes it was straight to DVD and P Diddy is a main character in it. There's a trailer for it on the UE DVD of Carlito's Way, it looks ok, but a major reason I even like the story of Carliot Brigante is Al Pacino's performance, it'd be like Hannibal Lecter not played by Anthony Hopkins or Stallone not playing Rambo, it's a character defined by the quality of the actor and Al defines Carlito.

"Ya think ya big time? You gonna ****en DIE .......big time" That **** is just great, as I said, an instant classic IMHO.

I can honestly say there are like a couple of Pacino films I didn't like, he's my 1st pick for best actor of all time...............easily.

That is the best line, but his rock solid persona is great.

"So what, maybe I don't remember the last time I blew my nose either! What, you think you like me? You ain't like me mother****er, you a punk. I've been with made people, connected people. Who you been with? Chain snatchin', purse grabbin, jive ass ******* mother****ers."

"but Benny says..." "F$%* Benny!!!" - The way he says this one, subtle character traits embedded in such a short statement, great stuff.

Definetely! I love Pacino's speech, its brilliant! Excellent writing too. I think at the time it was very underrated............but then so was Scarface!

Go figure.
