I used to spend quite a bit on collectibles. Especially when I first started.
I started with a Lord Of The Rings 7" Nazgul on horse from ToyBiz. I bought this at a local comicbookstore and I was actually thinking of buying just the one and that's it.
But after a week or so I thought he looked lonely on my shelf

So I went back and bought some more figures, and the week after that again some figures and so on.
But I think that was mainly because the series were in stores for a while when I started and I bought so much in pretty short time, because I was afraid they might sell out.

Nowadays, I usually pre-order the collectibles I want really bad. I don't really do impulses anymore because lots of those are the first ones I store away when more shelf space is necessary.

But lately I haven't bought very much collectibles. For shelf space reasons and the economy is pretty harsh these days...

I have just bought 2 Halo Hunters from McFarlane toys though, for my collection. The first collectibles since 2 months or so.

At the moment I don't have any more pre-orders placed. Kinda waiting to see what Hot Toys is doing with Watchmen.

I wnet a bit mad about six months into collecting, just bought everything that I could. Now I have slimmed down my collection, and am only buying what I really really want, jig ah jig ah!

Currently spending a fortune on frickin' shelves just to hold the impulse buys.
They just don't tell you about the hidden costs - Mr Ikea is behind all 1:6 releases!

Man ....the feedback has been amazing on this thread.
I plan allot of my purchases, But I find every time I place limits on myself, It really starts to bug me that my collection is incomplete and I rush out for those must haves....I am starting to get this under control

That really gets me as well. I always think I have the final piece in my collection when something else pops up. This madness needs to stop

Do you buy something when it comes up for a good price of do you think of something that you would like and than hunt the world for it?

Do you go on sudden spending sprees grabbing everything in sight and then go cold turkey for a while?

Do you save up for special pieces ahead of time or do you sell something old to fund something new?

all of the above.

Its pretty simple for me....I buy only movie related pieces in 1:1 or PF....they dont come along to often, so it gives me enough break inbetween to save cash for the next release.
