I heard that the 360 is droping in price to $199 for the one with no hard drive! Is this true?

They all had price drops 2 weeks ago. $199 for the reg system with no hard drive, $299 for the 60GB system, and $399 for the Elite with 120 GB

Since your requirement is Blu-ray, then PS3 is the only option for you.

I have all 3 systems; and PS3 is a very very nice gaming/movie system.

That drives me crazy!! Not no more than 2 months ago i payed the same price 4 the 20 gig, that the 60 gig is now going for! We don't even want to talk about how much $$ i lost buying the PS3 a month to early!!:rolleyes:

Pix, Something to consider is the high failure rate of XBOX360. I love my XBOX when its working, but im on my fifth return with microft right now. And I almost past my 3 years of original purchase, once that expires I can no longer have microsoft fix the console.

Since then though they've added a new heatsink to improve cooling along with a newer chipset that runs cooler which should fix that problem pretty well.

With the 360 you get great multi player games as well as a great online service (you do have pay $60 a year but its worth it). I know you have kids and the Wii is perfect for family fun and its a blast when you have friends come over. The PS3 is a great Blu Ray player and has some great games but the online service while free has some ground to make up before it matches Live.

I pay $49.99

You should get a Dreamcast or Sega Saturn or maybe a 3DO but I heard the Jaguar is quite good

HA! I had the Saturn, Dreamcast and the Jaguar back in the day. In fact I think I still have the Jaguar buried in some closet. Aliens vs. Predator, Tempest 2000 and Iron Soldier were my favorite games for the old cat.

I actually liked all of the systems back then.

lol. i still have all those. i have the dreamcast hooked up to my tv now, i love busting out Soul Caliber.

It depends on your tastes.

If you need Blu-Ray, PS3 is your only option.

If online is important, X-Box wins.

If you enjoy pick up and play type games, and same-room multiplayer, Wii is your system.

And no matter which you choose, you're going to be ripped on for choosing it.

I have a PS3 and 360 and I love them both.

The only reason the 360 edges out the PS3 for me is 'cause that is what I play with all of my friends on.

PS3 may not be great for online gaming, but it is a great system with cool games and a built in Blu-Ray player as a huge plus.

and the PS3 blu-ray player can be upgraded with firmware. And we got SOCOM coming out next month.

For a gaming console, 360 is the way to go. As it was mentioned earlier, the newer systems have improved heatsinks and design upgrades to prevent the hardwire failures. I've had my Elite for almost a year with no problems. I just make sure to keep it in a completely open-air space (i.e. - sitting on my entertainment center directly in front of my HDTV). And XBox LIVE is the best $50/yr subscription I've ever paid for!

However, PS3 is widely considered to be the most efficient Blu-Ray player currently on the market, and getting the firmware updates are very easy due to Sony's online network. Considering the PS3 is around the same price as a "good" stand-alone Blu-Ray player, your best bet is buy one of them as your BR player with the side benefit of having a second gaming console.

So in all honesty, Pix, you're really looking at buying both because they are both excellent machines in completely different ways.
