^FF isn't being cancelled. Check future Marvel solicitations & you'll see FF still coming out after Fantastic Four #600. Even the "supposed" return of Johnny is still in question, it's also proposed that the cover with Johnny on #600 might just be flashback retelling. So don't be bummed out just yet.

The point is to show that villains can win and super heroes are somewhat vulnerable

I always thought Cap was a boring character, but his death intrigued me and I was sucked into the entire Brubaker line which I thoroughly enjoyed. Anytime Spidey or Supes dies I'll buy that comic too :lol

It's nice to see the bad guys win, wish it happened more often in comics actually.

I recommend reading, Mark Millar's Wanted.

Thanks, I like the description already!

"It features an amoral protagonist who discovers he is the heir to a career as a supervillain assassin in a world where such villains have secretly taken control of the planet"
:yess:

You could also try picking up the trades of Thunderbolts, specifically the post Civil War iteration of the group. (Green Goblin, Venom, Bullseye)

Then on DC there's the Secret Society Of Super Villains & Secret Six.

Then if you want a great read that dives into a villains deep history, try Books Of Doom. Amazing read!

Thanks! Those all sound interesting. I was hunting for that Books of Doom right before I started collecting. In fact it was a Doom piece that I stumbled across during the hunt & bought that caused this landslide :D

I dont read US comics ... but I do read HK comics which is basically a copy cat product of the US comics .... the only reason to kill a famous character is to boast sales when it comes slow ... nothing more nothing less ...

Not always true. What about surprise deaths that aren't hyped? Although certainly not on Superman or Spider-Man's level, I recall being completely caught off guard when Psylocke, a consistant X-Man since the 80s & frequent in the video games and other media, was killed. There was no hype at all to ramp up sales.

Even if it's just one example, I think this is an exception.

Couldn't agree more with the sentiment of this thread. I despise the constant "Days Of Our Lives" style plot twists and turns. It belies an inherent lack of creativity in their storytelling and idea generation (perhaps not without good reason though considering how long these characters have been around)

And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Psylocke also come back to life? I don't think anyone ever dies for good in comic books lol.
