I have the five vintage mego Star Trek figures plus the Gorn and Klingon. I also have Starsky and Hutch, Huggy, Dolbie and the Fonz plus a 12" sealed Joe Namath and a furward pass outfit. All my Megos are still sealed and unopened.

So, out of curiosity... just how different are the original vintage Mego figures from the CTV re-issues? Does anybody have both? I was looking through ebay, and the re-issues are very cheap.

The rerelease Klingon seems like a really good reproduction. I would say outwardly a novice wouldn't really notice much of a difference.

I do think the bodies are different... and of course don't say Mego on them. I don't have my Klingon out at the moment but if no one gets to it before me I'll try to give you some more differences.

One cool thing with the Trek line is they have released some figures that were not part of the original line (Chekov, Sulu, etc.) and even remade the Gorn to look like his screen counterpart instead of the weird Mego hodgepodge that was originally released.

That's interesting, I might just take the plunge and get some of the Knights... the Black Knight was one of my all-time favorite figures as a child.

I had a bunch of superheros when I was a child. My favorites were Batman, Robin, and Spiderman, and I remember making them kick the crap out of the Penguin all the time. I don't really remember which other characters I had, but I know there were others.

None of them survived my childhood, and I know that the Penguin was buried alive and rests to this day somewhere in my Mom & Dad's front yard. :)

Well I can only speak for the Trek figures... as the only re-release I have is the Klingon.

But I did undress him and the two Mego's and honestly aside from a few minor cosmetic differences (width of fingers, toes) I really did not see any glaring differences in the bodies between the vintage and new.

The re-release uses a pretty identical copy of the V2 body and aside from the stamp dates looked spot-on.

The clothing materials were different of course, but still w/o holding them side by side I don't think the casual collector would be able to tell the difference. And the color the red weapons were slightly different, the vintage was a bit darker. Oh and the new boots were shiny, instead of a dull black.
