[QUOTE=Vortex "Keep your hygiene up and in no time you will be ban***g chicks with your Toys"

So that's it! All this guy needs to do is take a simply bath and brush his teeth and you'll be banging chicks with your Toys:slap

You should live your life, on your own terms, and make up your own mind.

Taking advice from Vortex, a freak whose avatar is the image of the fictional severally mentally ill character from the film 'There will be Blood' is a waste of your time, think about it, if he identifies with this insane fictional character, how good could his advice be.

BTW looking for advice on the internet is a double edged sword, majority of times it all depends on where you look for it, coming on a site where adult collectors act like their lives are coming to an end if a 1/6 action figure isn't screen accurate, isn't really the ideal place to go when searching the internet for good life skills.:lecture

In response to the original post:

Sounds like a typical evolution of collecting to me. Basically the same type of stages that I went through except that I've been doing it since birth. I started with things like He-Man, Transformers, TMNT, and GI Joe when I was a kid (I ended up donating all of them over time). I even had shelves, and when I didn't play with them I'd line them all up neatly on display. Eventually, as I got to my late teens I started collecting the McFarlane stuff and the like. About 7 years ago I started with Japanese PVC figures, and within a couple of years I was collecting Sideshow and Hot Toys.

What to collect?:
Whatever you love and can afford. If you only get what looks cool, trust me, you'll end up regretting it. I've sold off (or have in storage) most of the stuff that just looked cool. Now I only buy figures/statues of characters that I have an emotional investment in.

GF issue:
Who cares? If you bring a girl in and it bothers her then she can't accept you for you so screw her. You are who you are and if someone cannot accept that then you need to find someone who will. Besides, all the cool/intelligent girls think all things geek are awesome.

We have quite a few threads that cover these many subjects that collectors can relate to.

You should collect what you like regardless of what anyone else says, and in relation to the gf issue as tactful as the last few posts are  they are right. If you have a gf that likes you she will like every part of you, including the craziness that is our collecting hobby :lol.
After all, there are women collectors too (myself included) and lets not forget the amount some women spend on shoes/handbags and make-up etc.

Many threads to choose from to add your questions in and get opinions from.
No-one can tell you whether you should buy a certain piece or not, ultimately it is up to you, you will be the one paying for and displaying it so therefore as many have said buy what you like. If you like the new Tomb Raider piece then go for it. All that matters is that you are happy to display her in your home.

I have several statues that I love but have never read the comics they are based on. Personally I get them because I think they are beautifully intricate, very well made and pieces that I enjoy looking at. So I don't think it matters if you havn't read the comic/book/played the game.
If you like a piece and want to own it, then buy it.
